Chikky is racing tomorrow. Last race Pinjarra track.

We have had a few dramas prior to her last rest. Adam the trainer bascially stuffed up with her first up run last prep and put her straight out at 1400m. His stable jockey Alan Kennedy is not our favourite boy at present. In the three rides he has had he has managed to stuff up two of those rides. His last one was jumping her straight out the gate and put her to the front over 1400m. She ran last. his other stuff up she ran 11th.

We has expressed our opinons to Adam and that we do not want him as the jockey. We have been told well he is the stable jockey. So he will be riding her tomorrow. Both trainer and jockey are on their last chance tomorrow.

This horse is better than she has done and we are all not impressed. Many notable people have said she is the best horse in the stable and that many people can't be wrong. If the jockey stuffs up tomorrow some people may need to hold Tezza and myself back from getting our hands on him. Chikky is now four years old and missed a great deal of her three year old season due to shin soreness but also to an inadequate training prep by the other trainer prior to Adam taking her on.

So cross your fingers folks and hope this girl runs well tomorrow. It is a race to suit her. 1000m straight down the Pinjarra Park straight. Her first up ever race start and subsequent win was on this track over this distance.

I like the quote(Many notable people have said, she is the best horse in the stable) has any of the other

horses in the stable, won a race & if not,why leave her with a trainer, that is no good. B)

Used to use Carbery alot, Stubbsy when he could keep his weight down. If she isnt a touchy mare, knuckey gets alot out of them.

I dont know alot of the new jockeys now.

Hope you get what you are after, you shouldnt HAVE to use his jockey but it may be how he works?

Its a shame to see good mares put back by injuries and jockeys

Yesterday was a very big dissapointment. Can't blame the jockey this time. Someone put money on her too and the average price on the bookies was 8/1 and paying $3.70 on the tote. What the eventual starting prices were I don't know.

Macka those notable (by that I mean people who know their stuff) people are the trainer Adam Durrant (leading WA Trainer) and his father Geoff, the track riders who ride her against others in the stable, the pre-trainer Jason Pateman to name a few. A comment was made last year about her being on a par with stablemate Ma Chienne who incidentally ran second in the 2010 Perth Cup. Chikky's form was excellent and on track with some stunning runs i.e the 4th place to Shock Value when her time was equal to his at 34.28 over the last 600m and she pulled up with a sore leg. She is a small but gutsy little filly (now mare) like her half sister on the mother's side Russian Playmate ($267,490) who is also of small statue.

Chikkys'run yesterday was a shocker no doubt about and we are now convinced something is wrong but are at a loss as to what. She jumped well and was mid field, at the 600m mark she was in 6th position. The jockey aimed her a gap large enough for 3 horses for her run home and he reckons she when for about 100m and then nothing. She pulled up in 9th position. She comes back to the stables jig jogging like she hadn't even run a race. As soon as she had her wash down her heart rate was taken and found to be quite high at 136 bpm, 10 - 15 minutes later it was down to 109 bpm. This is of a concern. She had a lung wash and blood tests at last prep and it showed nothing. Maybe something psycological is going on. We just don't know.

I await news from the syndicate manager.

Send her to the bush,if she can't win there,

might be time to send her to the place of no return.

Well she certainly ran a good race in a time of 1:11:16. She ran the fastest time over the last 600m of 00:33:56 and won by a long neck.

Here is the photo finish.

Oh My God!!!!! She won. AGAIN. :(:D:D :dbb1: :baby:

That's two in a row. :(

Shaun rode a great race on her. She jumped beautifully and he quickly settled her into second last (9th) position. Got to admit got a bit worried at this point. Come round the turn and as they start to bunch up for the run home he moved her to the outside, keeping in touch all the time. When he made his move she just flew home covering the last 600m 34.07 seconds, the next fastest last 600m was the 3rd place getter at 35.02 sec. Now here is the good bit.

She broke the track record for 1200m that has stood for 20 years!

Previous record was 1.10.00 she did it in 1.09.88. There was a guy who came up to us after the race ( we think he was the track super) who was gobbsmacked. He told us that when the record was set the track surface use to be maintained a bit like a bowling green, short grassed and firmer surface. These days the grass is left longer making it a more dense surface which creates a bit more drag and it was looking like no-one was gonna break that record. Till our little girl came along! And you know what? She is such a little thing compared to some of the horses she races against.

Her career stats are now looking good. 9 starts for 3 wins; 0 seconds; 1 third. As they pay to 4th place in races she has brought home the bacon 6 out of 9 times. Thats pretty good. Biggest hiccup was the jockey, which I reckon has now been proven beyound a show of the doubt that Alan Kennedy just didn't suit her. Shaun rides her superbly and I told him yesterday he can ride her every time. He has a style that suits her and brings out her best. Two rides-two wins, can't get better than that! Adam the trainer, well he ain't admitting anything re jockeys so well just leave that there and see whats happens when Kennedy comes back from his suspension.

So here is the link to the race result. http://www.rwwa.com.au/cris/raceresults.as...4687&race=5

If you click on the link Photo Finish it will show you the photos taken on the day. On the 600m photo she second last. Jockey was wearing the emergency colours of the BTC, Yellow as the silks from previous race somehow ended up with Kennedy and he is off in Bali I think it was. The finish photo is self explanatary. For those who are having a blonde moment......she is the one passing the winning post in FIRST position!

I was so going to back her yesterday too, but my workload with leadlights got the better of me. I am so glad she's coming through for you and the faith you have had in her is so well justified :(

Well 14th April 2010 Chikky is going for the hat-trick. Unfortunately Shaun was not available so the Jokey is William Pike. This will be his second ride on her. Details of the race are to be found here.

The weather will be wet but the Verglas progeny like the wet. She has raced before in the rain but it wasn't as bad as it is forcast for tomorrow.

Cross fingers, there is only one horse in the race that will worry her, Copper Reign.

RACE MEETING ABANDONED

Guess it was wetter down there than in Perth.

Oh well. Adam nominated her for Ascot on Saturday too but she is the 9th emergency runner so we need a lot of scratchings for her to move into the field and improve her damn awful barrier draw.

Is she awesome or what. Finally after all this time we have a workable combination.

Chikky and Shaun. Champions :D

So exicited yesterday. Hugged everybody except the jockey (that's a no no). Let the track singing Queens' - "We are the Champions". Back to Tezza's place watch the demo DVD a few times. Then relive all past wins. Awesome!

She has now qualified for the $60,000 Provincial Series Final over 1400 metres on May 22 at Belmont. I reckon she'll start at pretty short odds. Don't know who the runners for this race yet. But she will definately be in with a strong chance.

I am so excited for you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is brilliant news !!!! :D

Congrats Rip, sounds like the combo have clicked. Some mares are like that with jockeys. Good luck in May with her is she having a short spell or staying in work til then?

Damn it! Missed this thread altogether or I would have put some on her.

Great to hear that she's running well. Did you have a dabble RIP?

No she will be staying in work and may have another run before that big race. Shaun loves her. He usually rides Copper Reign and got of that horse to ride ours. He said he would ride her anytime.

I did have a little dabble this time but the odds were so short it was hard to get a good price. Best I could get on the bookies was 2.20 a win and 1.40 a place. Tote faired slightly better.
