Canardly Miss

I have shares in a racehorse called Canardly Miss, stable name Chikky.

Tomorrow, Wednesday 4/3/09 she has her 2nd race start but 1st start as Ascot (City track).

She is in Race 2 and is No 10. I am going to have a little flutter on her. We don't expect her to win this race like she did with her 1st one as this is a much stronger field and she is against seasoned runners. We know she will give it her best though.

Anybody follow the horses look out for a horse called Grasa Express in the last race at Ascot. He comes from up north of WA and he has pretty good form. I am thinking of having a $1 or 2 each way on him.

4th mate, I didnt see the run (only just read this) did she run well? Durrant has her hey? Shouldnt go to wrong with him.

That last race had some high paying horses in it. Would have been worth a few $$ on any of them :(

Fingers crossed your horse came through for you! :(

Well Chikky did very well. We are all very happy with her run.

She jumped a little slow, but she does that. 2nd last all the way and it looked like she wasn't goning to get a split. They rounded the turn, a wall of horses in front of her. Then a gap opened up, Allan Kennedy pointed it out to her and away she went. Romped home to fourth place 5 lengths behind the winner.

She ran the second fastest time over the last 600m (58.09). Considering the distance (1000m) is too short for her she did extremely well. We did not expect a win and given the distance we would have been content for her to run mid-field, after all it was her second start, but first at Ascot and against such seasoned horses.

The trainer is one of the best in WA and the jockey is one of the leading apprentices. Both were happy with her run. A Saturday race will be coming up in the not too distant future.

Congratulations! What about that other one in the last race, how did he do?

What sort of distance are you looking at running her over? Sounds like a good run for her, the 1000m squibs would have given your horse a good run for an intro. Slow jumping is easily fixed :D

How long before you nominate again?

Grasa Express did not do so well in the last race.

I don't think it would be too long to nomiate for the next race. Generally if something is amiss I get a SMS within days. The fact I have heard nothing is good. This filly is very well bred. She is by Verglas from a mare called Rippling Echo. Related siblings out there are Russian Playmate and Sheenasaidgrey, the latter who has done very well.

We have been taking things steady with this filly, she is a little thing but has a ton of guts. She is goning to be a 1200 to 1400m horse at this stage.

I will let you all know when she races again.

Ascot Today at 1.35pm Race 2.

She is top weight and starting favourite. She is racing over the distance she is bred for for the first time. There really is nothing in the field to beat her. But it is racing and things happen so no horse is ever a cert.

My selections for this race are

1st Canardly Miss

2nd Street Value

3rd Rosmopolitan

4th Marvon Star

Good Luck .if there was a tab near by I would have a little a bet but the nearest one is half an hour away.

I put a flutter on and got my money back!

Me too :rip:

William Pike was the jockey and it was his first ride on her. Jumped her pretty smartly to get a good position and she was running third most of the way. Problem was that she will fizz up quickly and cause the pace was slow she was pulling too much and never really settled. On the straight she started her run and we thought she would at least get second but she just didn't run on in her usual style. Looks like she may have pulled up sore. So out for a rest she goes.

Even though she didn't win today we are still happy with her. She has had 3 starts for a 1st, 3rd and 4th for stakemoney of $9,925. She has never been further back than 5th in any race or trial. She is still a baby and if you guys could see her in the flesh she is not a big horse at all.

Thank you to all who had a flutter and I hope nobody did their dough.

Latest up date on Chikky.

She did pull up sore and went back to Tezza's place for spell. She is doing very well and will soon be heading back over to Adam's for the next step in her prep. Hopefully she should be good from know on. Belmont may well be her next place to race. See how things go.

In the meantime her half sister Russian Playmate has been retired as of the 19th of April 2009. She bled in her race on Satruday so that's it for her. Pretty good career though. 38 starts for 6 wins, 8 seconds, 9 thirds for prizemoney of $267,490. She raced in some top races.

Chikky is racing on Saturday at Belmont, race 2. She is number 7 Canardly Miss.

Her last run was a real dissapointment, last out of 14 runners. Even the trainer (Adam) was shocked. It was her first start back from a spell and over 1400m she pulled so much and just wouldn't settle that she ran out of puff about 200m from home. Adam said she has to learn to settle cause she mostly definately has the potential.

Knucky is riding her on Saturday. He rode her in her first race and won, so maybe he is the jockey for her. Well see on Saturday.

Disappointment for me is we finally get to a Saturday race day and I can't make it cause I will be in Albany driving a bus up and down Mt Clarence for the Mountain Bike Downhill Championships.

I have put a reminder into me phone have made note of the racing radio frequency for Albany. Just just hope the bus has a radio and gets reception!

Chikky is racing tomorrow. Last race Pinjarra track.

We have had a few dramas prior to her last rest. Adam the trainer bascially stuffed up with her first up run last prep and put her straight out at 1400m. His stable jockey Alan Kennedy is not our favourite boy at present. In the three rides he has had he has managed to stuff up two of those rides. His last one was jumping her straight out the gate and put her to the front over 1400m. She ran last. his other stuff up she ran 11th.

We has expressed our opinons to Adam and that we do not want him as the jockey. We have been told well he is the stable jockey. So he will be riding her tomorrow. Both trainer and jockey are on their last chance tomorrow.

This horse is better than she has done and we are all not impressed. Many notable people have said she is the best horse in the stable and that many people can't be wrong. If the jockey stuffs up tomorrow some people may need to hold Tezza and myself back from getting our hands on him. Chikky is now four years old and missed a great deal of her three year old season due to shin soreness but also to an inadequate training prep by the other trainer prior to Adam taking her on.

So cross your fingers folks and hope this girl runs well tomorrow. It is a race to suit her. 1000m straight down the Pinjarra Park straight. Her first up ever race start and subsequent win was on this track over this distance.

I will be following her progress. She is a beautiful thing B)

She certainly is. She has filled out a little more and now looks like a mare rather than a gangly filly.

You are right to back her, don't lose faith, she might just be one of those later developers or just a breeder of winners if you go down that track and put her out to stud. B)
