Hi,

My budgie has had about 3 clutches in a row now and has just finished one,

she has started laying eggs again but everytime shes laid them i have been putting her eggs in with a nother budgie,

to make her stop laying eggs do i take out the male or take out the nesting box...if i do this and she still has eggs inside of her will she lay the eggs on the floor or will she get eggbound, i really want to take the box away but i dont want her to get eggbound im not too worried if she lays eggs on the ground im just worried dhe might get eggbound please help! thanks

If I were you I would take the nest box away. Remove anything that looks like a nest (open food dispensers etc...)

If she lays an egg on the ground do not throw it away, foster it to another hen. It could be fertile/.

Why did you allow this ?

It is not advisable to allow them to lay more than two clutches in a row. It's bad for their health. I'd agree with the other and remove the nest box now. I had a hen who had problems laying. She became egg bound, then ate/smashed her eggs. I remove the nest box and she laid a few off the perch and stopped. Just remember to give her a big long rest and plenty of calcium rich food.
