Posted March 1, 200916 yr Hi I need a name for my new female rat. Shes an agouti hooded. Which means she has a brown head and stripe down her back flecked with black, and the rest of her body is white. She is pregnant at the moment! Due anyday now I cant wait!! I also have 2 other rats, they are males and their names are Aladdin and Bandit. Aladdin is an agouti hooded and Bandit is a black hooded. So get your thinking caps on guys I want something unordinary not too girly and not babyish. See you :budgiedance: Edited March 1, 200916 yr by bird_paradise
March 1, 200916 yr Author YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just got a text from my mum (im staying at my dads this weekend) saying that my rat just had babies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She has at least 7 mum said and shes still fat! Hopefully more on the way! She was feeding them this morning too so I am really happy! Cant wait to see them tonight! Glad she had them today as I will be able to see them when they're only a day old!! YAY!!!!!! Pleased she gave birth okay, as I bought her from the pet shop having been told it was a male and seeing on the way home it was actually a female and had been in with males for quite some time, so was 99% sure she was pregnant, then she kept getting fatter and fatter thought she would burst soon!! Was concerned she would be too young, or would neglect them. Sounds like she is doing well though! Will keep you all posted, photos to come of mum and babies! Will put some photos on of my rat boys too!

March 2, 200916 yr They will be starting to get fur at about 10- 12 days old!! When they get to the "popcorn stage" (bouncing around at about 2-3 weeks), put a whole corn cob in for mum & babies. CUTEST THING EVER. I bred rats for a number of years, I don't have any now, but if you need advice or help, please let me know

March 5, 200916 yr I cannot see why people are so into rats. I am sorry if this causes offence, but to me they are terrible creatures. I suppose all the rats I deal with are vermin that I am trying to kill, so there is no good feelings there. An analogy would be if the only dog you ever see bites you, it is hard to like dogs. Just cannot get excited, even for you. Each to their own I suppose.
March 6, 200916 yr Oh my gosh! i totally want a rat now, how adorable is that! Mum would kill me though, she hates rodents :S It's bad enough she calls my birds "rats with wings" hahaha Gorgeous photo's, thanks for sharing
March 6, 200916 yr I'm not a big rat fan either, but I have to admit these are cute. I've never seen "pinkies" before besides the dead frozen ones you buy at feed shops to feed your snakes and all that. I don't think I would ever want to own one, but the pictures are sure cool to look at. Good for you!!! )
