Posted February 27, 200916 yr Hi All, Just to confirm my latest purchase! This is a YF2 sky spangle hen..... Thanks, SJW
February 27, 200916 yr Light green spangle, could be cinnamon aswell, A closer picture of the wings would tell me for sure.
February 27, 200916 yr Author Managing to have bought a green bird would be a first for me! I guess I thought YF2 because the first picture seems to show a couple bluish coloured feathers!
February 27, 200916 yr a slight blue tinge to a light green bird i believe is normal. i dont see any blue feathers under the tail so this is why i think she is green. most YF birds show at least a little blue under the tail Edited February 27, 200916 yr by **Liv**
February 27, 200916 yr Author Finally a green budgie! Would anyone have any guesses as to her age? Also, am I right in thinking that a good way to improve spangle markings is to put them to a well marked normal bird?
February 27, 200916 yr Finally a green budgie! Would anyone have any guesses as to her age? Also, am I right in thinking that a good way to improve spangle markings is to put them to a well marked normal bird? I would say she is around 9 months. Spangle markings I believe to a good normal out of a spangle pairing.
February 28, 200916 yr I think that this bird is a type 2 yellow face sky blue spangle that has turned green after her moult. The green colour is not the right shade for a light green and the yellow is much brighter on the face than on the wings and back. To check the colour look under the wings to see if she has blue or white feathers
February 28, 200916 yr i was going to say look under wings as if she is type 2 she will have blue along top edge of under wings all way along and i say 9 to 12 at most so to be sure i wouldnt breed her for at least 4 to five i would wait 6 to be sure she looks to light green to be sky blue as the go a real lime green when fully matured not bright like that but under wings is a sure awnser
February 28, 200916 yr Author Seems I've caused a bit of division in the ranks :budgiedance: ! I'm not going to chase her about to look under her wings just now, I'll have a look and hopefully be able to provide a definitive answer when she comes out of quarantine (~2wks to go).
