Posted February 24, 200916 yr Hi. I would like to see how my birds rate in the show world. If you could tell me the faults and good points about the bird, I will greatly appreciate it. First are these 3. Baby skyblue cin Thankyou.
February 24, 200916 yr I think your Greygreens look nice but your baby isn't showing much ... could be a bad photo. To be more specific, your cock bird has a lovely blow but his mask could be better (his spots need size and numbers). Your hen has a lovely deep mask but she looks a little pinched around the head- the so-called key hole effect..... though it may be the photo. Edited February 24, 200916 yr by renee
February 24, 200916 yr I agree with Renee, the has pretty good blow and nice direction to her feathers but would be best paired to a cock with good width across the front. Maybe it's just the angle but the cock is similiar in the width issue, are they related by any chance? Edited February 24, 200916 yr by melbournebudgies
February 24, 200916 yr Author Hi thankyou Renee and Melbournebudgies for the comments. They are not related, both from seperate parents. By pairing the cock with the hen, would the width of face and spot issues be resolved? Hen has lots of spots but cock has not many, so would it even it out for the chicks? February 24, 200916 yr You know Pearce I just want to add that I really encourage you to show your birds - inspite of any faults you think they may have. Just remember that every bird has at least one fault but you have to put it all in perspective. Don't wait around for the perfect bird in order to show. What you should be focusing on is breeding the perfect bird and that is when you need to critically assess each bird ahead of deciding on its mate so you don't double up on faults in the offspring.Hope that helps. February 24, 200916 yr Author Thankyou Renee I am going to enquire in the next week or so. When you join a club, do you get a book or some sort of guideline article that tells you the australian standard and faults etc... Edited February 24, 200916 yr by Pearce
