Hi everyone tonight is our selection night for the Victorian Adult bird shield held in Melbourne Sunday 1st March.

I am really excited and just hope my birds get selected. :rofl:

I only have 5 to go as one died when we had that hot spell not long ago.

I have 2 yellow DF Spangle Cocks, 1 grey green cock, 1 grey green cinnamon opaline hen and one light green opaline hen.

and are spangles allowed the bib in shows now ?

It's not a case of not being allowed the bib GB. If he came up against a bird that was very similiar in every other respect but without the bib that may be the decider though

Thanks GB, the bib is a fault but it is the way they were when they were first discovered any way he will be marked for it and he has the Same father . and the grey green there has the same father also.Gb

3 got selected.

Sunday is the big day but really don't expect to do any good at all.

I need to do heaps of inprovement on my birds this year in my breeding program for example they need more feather and head etc.

With respect to the Bib comment (mask) all birds have masks. Self coloured birds ie Lutinos, albinos, df spangles etc are just that self coloured (ie same colour all over). When a mask is visible is because of suffusion, which is a penalty and birds should be penalised accordingly. Greater the suffusion greater the penalty in a showing sense.

Well done, what happens now

They go to Melbourne Sunday for the Shield, my birds are getting a ride down there as my car won't make it yet still getting fixed,

 

I know I won't do any good but but if you don't enter you will never know.

 

GB the DF has suffusion and they have to be yellow all over or white if they are white even though as I stated earlier that when they were discovered they did have the suffusion,

This bird does have a fair bit of green. but he is a nice type bird.

He will be penalised for his suffusion but then saying that I think a heavy flecked opaline is much worse and should be penalised heavy for it.

Dilivered the birds to Mick today and he will take them to Melbourne tomorrow and I will pick them up tomorrow night.

Here they are already to go.

Yellow DF spangle cock, Yes I know he has green suffusion more since he has moulted and it is such a shame but he is throwing nice young.

 

Will let you all know how I go but noy expecting to do any good. I would like the DF to plce in the top 20 that would be nice :budgiedance:

Macka I hope to be there for the young bird shield told Greg last night that I have to go to that one so he has to drive me there.

I wanted to go today but all the members have a full car.

okay RESULTS birds aren't home yet but on their way

 

Grey Green didn't place

 

Grey Green Cinnamon Opaline came 15th there was probably 40 plus birds in her class

 

Yellow DF Spangle came 10th and there would of been a lot of birds in his class too maybe 50 plus not sure as I wasn't there but there is but at least 18 clubs to compete against I think and they take 3 birds from each variety.

 

Really happy with the results as the birds are up against the best in Victoria

Just can't wait to get my babies back.

Thanks Kaz and Pearce the little fellows did the best they can do well I hope they perched I just can't wait to pick them up. A couple more hours yet.

I really like the yellow df spangle. He stands out to me in all of your threads and your signature.
