Hate Computers!

My just over 12 month old computer failed last night, giving me a Disk Boot Failure message. GRRR! Figures!

Lucky for me I purchased an extended warranty so it's going back to HN on Saturday. I am hoping it won't be gone too long.

I can forgive the computer giving up the ghost (except I've still got 2yrs Lease to pay) but it's the information saved on the computer that I really don't want to/can't afford to lose. Again.

My parents just gave me an external harddrive for my birthday and I was going to use it on Saturday to backup my computer. LOL this is amazing! All this time without a backup and the day after I'm given one my computer packs up - but before I can backup the silly computer!

At least I can still access the net at work. Although if the planned train strikes happen next week I'll only have 3 days here! hehe what a week. ;)

Murphy was an optimist I am sure!

The stuff on the disk might be salvagable, let them know you have important info/work on there and that you would like as much as possible either given to you on CD or let them know you can supply an external hard drive to transfer it on to.

oh! they might be able to save the info? Gosh I hope so! I've got heaps of disks and the hard drive if they want that! I'll take both lots with me on Saturday and ask them.

I'd just started my research again into a new mutation so won't lose too much, it was only about 6 hours work - not like last time when I lost 2 years' research!

At least I am prepared if it happens again. The hard drive is 500GB so I won't have to worry about having too much info! ;)

oh birdluv I hear you! have you got yourself an external hard drive to backup your info? LOL I am definately converted to them now.

I've got a years' worth of photo's and files on my current one. I really hope they can salvage it.

Friends have been telling me I should have gotten a disc when I bought the computer. The guy at the time said I didn't get one since Windows is preloaded. Others have said that's rubbish as sometimes need to reload the program. I'll ask the service people tomorrow.

Well the bad news is the hard drive is up the creek and the good news is they can save my files, photo's, favourites etc! I am very happy about that. I believe they can reinstall it when the new hard drive is installed.

Thank heavens for my parents always saying to take out an extended warranty!

I'm not getting it back until next week now as the hard drive hasn't come in yet! :D
