Posted February 7, 200916 yr Hi there, this is my new budgie SHYA and I am just wanting to know if she is a girl or not? When I bought her I thought so but now I'm not so sure! I think she is a cinnamon opaline? but I'm unsure about her colour as she is pale purple...very pretty in my opinion that's what made me buy her . Also how old would she be? Thanks heaps Derricka
February 7, 200916 yr Looks more blueish to me, possibly violet cobalt? Edited February 7, 200916 yr by Pearce

February 8, 200916 yr Author Thanks for your replies. Her colouring is the softest pastel purple, if I had to align her to either grey or blue I would say the colour would be more related to grey. I don't know what this means or anything but she's just pretty to me. I thought mauve when I first bought her but the colours/mutations confuse me so I wasn't confident in guessing colour. Thanks
February 8, 200916 yr She is a gorgeous young cinnamon opaline mauve hen Her wing doesnt look right to me... is it broken?? might be good to take her to the vet to have it checked because if it heals incorrectly, she will never fly again.
February 8, 200916 yr Author When I first saw that photo I thought something was wrong also but she seems fine now. My daughter has her out and she flies great. I've put it down to she may have been a little stressed after I brought her home but I will keep an eye on it. Her wings are now tight against her body. I don't want to sound rude but why is there such a wide discrepancy with identifying her colour? The photos pretty much show her true colour. Please don't take offence as I only want to learn more than what I know now (which is not much). Thanks

Thanks What people see on their monitors, and how the colour comes across. Also you have to take into account who is telling you what and what amount of experience they have.
