Continuous Moulting...

Featured Replies

I have two budgies...when one passed away in December 2007 I took on another..I didn't buy him from a shop but saw an ad on the internet and gave him a home...he wasn't looked after and was in a filthy cage with no fresh food etc...he looked healthy and has continued to do well but I just wanted to know if anyone knows why he seems to moult more that any budgie I've ever had before. He moults from his front and head but always grows new feathers back and looks lovely but it doesn't last very long before he's moulting again and the same process begins. I have had him for over a year now and he gets on well with my other male budgie..he's fed on seed, with fresh fruits and veg every other day and has cuttle fish and iodine blocks to nibble on and eggy biscuits....fresh water changed daily etc...why is this happening? I would say he's maybe one or two years of age.

My other budgie hardly ever moults. All advice and suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks :D
