February 17, 200916 yr Have you candled these eggs to see how many are actually fertile ? When there are that many fertile eggs, the first few babies makes the last eggs poopy and contaminated and the eggs dont hatch. If fertile, you may want to foster some of those eggs out to another hen.

February 18, 200916 yr Nice pairs.. It's so exciting watching the chicks grow as you never know what you will get I am a little concerned about the closest hen in this photo... Her posture looks like she may have splayed legs :bliss: And if this one below below with her wing out is not the same hen from above....then I think she has splayed legs too.
February 18, 200916 yr Shannon may I ask why you do not have any shavings in your nesting boxes? It will keep them alot cleaner and also help to prevent splayed legs. You have alot of eggs, well done
February 18, 200916 yr Their are plenty of good articles on various budgie forums and other budgie sites. Try this one shannon: http://www.officialbarrieshuttbudgerigars.com/ I use it alot. Or use the faq's..

Shannon, can you post new photos iof each of these chicks as there seems to be issues with them all as a nest of chicks....feathers arent right either. Is it the same nest in each photo ? Did you lose one of the chicks ? Edited February 19, 200916 yr by KAZ
February 19, 200916 yr I was just going to say something doesnt look right. My chicks have splayed legs while they are still pink and cant lift themselves, but by the time they have feathers, their wings are tight to their bodies and legs are uniform and able to lift them. Something is off with those chicks?? Legs and feathers? Wings dont seem to sit right too.. Maybe its just the moment you caught them at? How much grip do they have on the flooring? What kind of bedding is in the nest? Edited February 19, 200916 yr by Dean_NZ
February 19, 200916 yr For the age of the chicks based on wing feathers development they should have full body feathers or close to it and they dont.

February 24, 200916 yr Author here is one of the babys out of the nesting box ?? is it a girl or a boy
February 24, 200916 yr Possibly a hen, but the flash washes out the cere. How are her feet and legs?? at her age she should be standing well on flat surfaces and/or beginning to perch
February 24, 200916 yr Looks like a hen to me. Did all three chicks make it ? and can they all stand properly and do they all have full feathers ?
