Posted February 3, 200916 yr After the heat over the last few days she has become all fluffed up. She is still eating but she sleeps alot and has been losing a few more feathers then normal.. Her poo is dark green and runny. Sometime she seems to be choking on something, like something is stuck in her throat. What could be wrong with her? I can't exactly afford to take her to the avian vet at the moment because of school going back... Should i seperate her from my other birds that are in quarantine with her?... The others seem fine and aren't seeming to worry to much about her.. before after Gail. Sick. Edited February 3, 200916 yr by *Debbie*
February 3, 200916 yr This is the sign of a budgie more than just sick...very sick. You are going to have to get her to the vet...no matter what....she wont last if you dont. Urgent. Any sick budgie should be immediately removed from others and kept warm...hospital cage with warm lamp 25 to 40 watt globe near her. Never leave a sick budgie to cope with aviary stresses. You will have to get her to the vet Asap Edited February 3, 200916 yr by KAZ
February 3, 200916 yr Author I know it's urgent, but i really can't do anything till morning. I don't have a spare cage. :cake:
February 3, 200916 yr I know it's urgent, but i really can't do anything till morning. I don't have a spare cage. :cake: Improvise....... a wooden or cardboard box with mesh or a cake rack taped to the front. A houselamp with a 25 to 40 watt globe next to the box...anything !! BUT the bird cannot stay in the aviary as sick as she is. Edited February 3, 200916 yr by KAZ fixed typo - 40 watt not 0 watt :)

February 3, 200916 yr Author I agree with Kaz and all her advice. I hope you can get her better. okay she is in a box inside has a lamp next to her what else can i do?
February 3, 200916 yr Get her to the vet as soon as possible. Meantime try a little honey in water and see if you can get her to sip it...dont force it or she will breathe it in. Edited February 3, 200916 yr by KAZ

February 3, 200916 yr Good luck, i hope your budgie does get better. It really does look sick though, i have never seen a budgie looking so sick before
February 3, 200916 yr Make sure you keep her very warm too, I believe there is a set-up for a hospital cage in the FAQ warmth is a main factor in keeping your budgie alive and of course getting her to a vet, I hope all is okay, keep us updated.

February 6, 200916 yr I've adopted "gail" and changed her name to Elle. I've put her in the cage I had Cheeky in when we got him. She seems fine and is ALOT more active and chirpy and everything since I saw her on tuesday.
