Digital Slr's

well I'm on the look out for a nice Digital SLR camera, I figure its about time I upgraded from my current camera. I've so far looked at the Canon EOS 1000D, Nikon D60 and Sony a200... all nice camera's but I'm still not sure which one to get... Do you have a DSLR? if so which one and what do you like and dislike about it?

Have used the Nikon D60 does great shots of polo ponies in action! Have not used the other two but I figure that it should be a good camera for birds flight shots.

Ive got a nikon- one of the earlier models, I much prefer the canon, the 1000 is good I was going to get the 400d but was given the nikon (free is good)

Canon has lots of accessories and plenty of lenses available, nikon has changed some of the attachments of camera/lens so cannot interchange older lenses.

Some fo the lenses they include in the packages could be better, look into what brand has what lens

Most of the police seem to use Nikons (from what ive seen) not sure why, but the better photographers I know use canons

my personal choice is a canon but they are all made well these days

I'm also going to be replacing my camera soon and with the governments rebate coming I may be able to afford it sooner than I planned.

I've got a handicam here I've never used - can they take still photo's? Don't matter, will take it to Cash Converters, should get a couple hundred to put towards a new camera.

I will be keeping an eye on this thread for idea's.

Looking to spend $600-$1000 so hopefully will get a good one.

I got a Sony... I'll let you all know how it goes... I had convinced myself on the Cannon 1000D but couldn't beat the price of the Sony a200... I'm happy with it and have got some fantastic shots. Looking forward to coming home with some great pictures...

Sigh.... I miss my SLR. It was auto but it wasn't digital but I took some great shots with it, my beloved son stuck his fingers in the shutter and it's never worked since :) Since all the lenses are DSLR compatible as they are all auto lenses I'm hoping that when I do have to money to buy a new one I can get a box that will fit my accesories as I have quite a few really good lenses that I'd like to keep (a telephoto and a bunch of smaller ones plus filters, etc)

OMG JB, your snap happiness ust rubbed off on me, I just bid on on one ebay which should fit my lenses :D. Hmmm.... now how to tell hubby :P

I have a D70 it is about 4 years old now paid a fortune for it and now they are a third of the price, rats. :)

I have always used Nikon even with my film camera.

I'm a Minolta chick, my old SLR was a minolta and I loved it, so easy to use. The DSLR I've just bid on is a couple of years old but hardly used, a Minolta too :)
