Hi All,

I have these 2 show type budgies, a hen and a cock, and am wondering if they are show quality, or better as stock birds and would they be good to breed together and what chicks would I expect from them  ?

Both would be best to use as Stock birds.

The Spangle Cock needs better mask and wing markings. I see he is missing flights on his right wing.

The hen needs more top end, she has nice directional feathering and the mask in depth is not too bad. Spots could be better.

I Really like the male. Well done.

Okay, thanks Daz. He is not actually missing flights, it's just that when I took the photo, you cant see them as they are longer than the photo.

How would they go breeding together would they make good chicks and what colours?

She has a green ring what year?

Thanks Pearce, I really like him too, he is quite young, just last years bird I think. Black ring. which year is that again?

okay thanks Kaz which would mean she is 2. What is black ring?

Their rings both say BCV on them, along with other numbers and letters. If I rang the BCV and gave them the codes, would they be able to trace the breeders?

Thanks

Black ring is last years ring. Dont be tempted to breed without knowing for sure which part of last year they were hatched as they are considered young birds.

BCV is the budgerigar council of victoria. Post the ring codes and see if anyone here recognises the codes.
