Budgies Eyes

Not quite sure if I have anything to worry about but I was watching my two birds (Max and Angie) and Max was grooming the top of Angies head and then i noticed her eye. She was keeping it closed and upon further observation I noticed she was rubbing the eye on her perch and scratching it.

I'm not sure whether Max may have accidentally caught her in the eye with his beak or if she did with her claws. It appears to be clean looking (not scaly), just the immediate feathers around it just looked a bit disturbed from rubbing it.

I'm going to keep an eye on it and see how it goes, hopefully its nothing to worry about. :D

Bathing with water from a teabag helps with eye iritations.

I must admit I am a little nervous. I have had the birds for only a few weeks and have never handled them, I haven't even put my hand in the cage as yet.

Thanks for the great advice though Kaz. I think I'll give it a whirl.

You may want to post a picture of the eye first so we can see it, if they are new birds I would be careful on the grabbling and different things especially if you are working on taming.

Thanks Elly, I'll try and get one up soon, however I don't think you'll be able to see much. She is keeping it open more than she was yesterday so perhaps that means she's on the mend. I won't be taming the 2 birds I have as they will be going outside once I get an aviary. When they have babies I want to bring one inside for taming.

still put up a picture, and follow Kaz's advice
