Posted January 30, 200916 yr I know a few, can you confirm them please and tell me the ones I don't know? Thanks. I was in the process of transferring them from the treatment cage into spare cages and took most photo's whilst transferring them to save time as it was super hot! That is why I am "manhandling" all the birds. 1. Gray & White Dominant Pied Hen 2. Yellow & Green Recessive Pied Male - and Boris' Daddy! 3. Albino Hen - got blue leg ring on 4. Sky Blue Cinnamon Spangle cock? 5. Normal Gray Cock 6. White Lacewing Cock (his markings are very light) 7. Normal Violet Cock (coloured spots are purple) 8. Normal Olive Hen? 9. Yellow & Green Dominant Pied Cock 10. Cinnamon Olive Hen? 11. Yellow & Green Dominant Pied Cock How did I go?
January 30, 200916 yr Author ah! The brown markings on his wings fooled me into thinking cinnamon. I was going to ask if he could be lacewing and spangle at the same time but realised not visually.

That is why I am "manhandling" all the birds. 1. Gray & White Dominant Pied Hen - I agree 2. Yellow & Green Recessive Pied Male - and Boris' Daddy! I agree 3. Albino Hen - got blue leg ring on Cannot see the eye colour so I cannot be sure. 4. Sky Blue Cinnamon Spangle cock? I do not think this fellow is cinnamon, could be the camera 5. Normal Gray Cock I agree 6. White Lacewing Cock (his markings are very light) Do you have a photo with the wing markings? 7. Normal Violet Cock (coloured spots are purple) Cobalt birds also have violet cheek patches so I think this one is a cobalt rather than a violet. 8. Normal Olive Hen? I agree 9. Yellow & Green Dominant Pied Cock I agree 10. Cinnamon Olive Hen? Looks more Grey green to me, the cheek patches look grey. 11. Yellow & Green Dominant Pied Cock I agree They are very nice healthy birds.
January 30, 200916 yr Author I just looked for any additional pictures of #6 and don't have any showing his markings - not much to see anyway as they are very pale, can also see just a tiny bit of purple in the cheek patches. This lot are my strongest and also noisiest budgies. All are very robust.
January 30, 200916 yr As Pearce says...this one is grey green not olive. and if this one hasd a black tail it also is grey green. Edited January 30, 200916 yr by KAZ
January 30, 200916 yr Is this birds cheek patch GRey or violet? It looks more greyish to me. If they are Grey its a Grey green and if they are violet its an olive. Edited January 30, 200916 yr by Pearce
January 30, 200916 yr This one is a Cobalt Violet they are all either sky, cobalt or mauve and the violet is added factor so they have to be 1 of the blues, he reminds me of my Merlin so I am going to say Violet Cobalt.
January 30, 200916 yr Author Apologies for the picture quality, my camera is not as good as it once was. Here is a rear photo of the green hen - she has the black tail.
January 30, 200916 yr Black tail is grey green bird.....blue tail is olive. Is this birds cheek patch GRey or violet? It looks more greyish to me. If they are Grey its a Grey green and if they are violet its an olive. You are forgetting the most important thing.........tail.Black tail is grey green. Navy blue tail is olive. Are cheek patches as accurate as tails when trying to determine the mutation?
January 30, 200916 yr parentage is best, maybe Karen knows the parentage tail is over cheek patches I believe
February 1, 200916 yr 4. Sky Blue Cinnamon Spangle cock? I agree with the spangle and he is definately not cinnamon, but could he also be a clearwing? The body color is very bright..... making me tend to lean to this idea.
February 1, 200916 yr The spangle is NOT a clearwing....it is a normal skyblue spangle. Edited February 1, 200916 yr by KAZ
February 1, 200916 yr The spangle is NOT a clearwing....it is a normal skyblue spangle. Thanks Kaz. The clearwing mutation is one I haven't grasped properly yet. I will eventually get it someday!

February 1, 200916 yr Apologies for the picture quality, my camera is not as good as it once was. Here is a rear photo of the green hen - she has the black tail. The one on the right is Grey green. The one on the left looks cinnamon to me.
February 1, 200916 yr Author I only bred 2, 4 & 5 and the rest I bought from various sources. 1, 7, 9 & 10 were from a pet produce store and supposedly came from the same breeder who left the fancy and cut their rings off. Male number 4 - the sky spangle, is it a normal feature of spangles to have brown wing markings? When he was a chick they were alot darker than they are now.
February 1, 200916 yr If they are brown then he must be cinnamon, did you use a flash? My spangles when they are babies their wing markings are bright, then as they mature they lighten. I'm not sure if its normal but it happens here.
February 1, 200916 yr Having had skyblue cinnamon spangles and normal spangles ...that spangle is NOT a cinnamon. The markings on the mask are black and the body colour is full strength. Someone needs glasses or a monitor adjustment Edited February 1, 200916 yr by KAZ
February 1, 200916 yr Author It's an automatic flash and I'm not certain if it went off when I took the shot or not. Might have to show him to you Pearce in the feather so to speak. Do you go to the Ipswich Budgie meetings?
February 1, 200916 yr Not yet no, I am going to join the ipswich club soon. I see you live in fernvale, 15 minutes away from me I do not have any pictures of blue spangles and blue cinnamon spangles at the moment, sadly. If it is cinnamon then you will know it, his markings will be brown instead of black. From here the markings look black, but that could be the camera. Maybe try take another photo.
