April 1, 200520 yr Sparky when we got him, his cere was pink and he had black bands running half way down his forehead so I would guess about 3-4 months old. The main problem is hes just determined not to come on my finger, I can stroke him but he will slouch on his perch so I can't get my finger near his feet any other tips you guys have picked up on this
April 1, 200520 yr I did try that but he clung to that perch and then just flew off to another perch and after that he was evn more scared of my finger. Thanks though
April 1, 200520 yr O.K. in that case I think I would try the 'unknown'territory bit-i.e. the bathroom with no cage in there and see if he comes to you for security. Julie
April 1, 200520 yr yeah try the method that julie suggested also, i understand that some people would not approve of this, but if you are really really struggling with taming him and you have tried everything then maybe you could get his wings clipped? sparky sounds a lot like casper before i got him clipped, since he has had restricted flight he has become A LOT more approachable and will now actually approach me if he feels like it he now has almost full flight back and to be honest i think he is much happier and more outgoing than he was before. he gets more interaction and more playtime and isnt afraid of people. also, could it be that sparky just likes his cage too much? sometimes mine wont come out if they are in their cage and they dont want to be disturbed. once they are out of their cage though, they are fine
April 2, 200520 yr Thanks pixie25 I haven't had a chance yet to get Sparky in the bathroom but if that method does fail, how much does it cost to get their wings clipped?
April 2, 200520 yr i cant remember how much it was to get caspers wings clipped at the vets, i think it was just under 20 quid. if you know a bird specialist or breeder they would probably be willing to help you, and maybe teach you how to do it yourself? i am paranoid about things like that so i would rather my vet do it
April 2, 200520 yr Thanks again If I do decide to get Sparky's wings clipped I think would have to go to the vet because their are no breeders living nearby me , and I hope I don't get ripped off by the price Edited April 2, 200520 yr by Sparky
April 2, 200520 yr Merlin loves his, but he rolled it somewhere I can't reach it so he doesnt have one anymore. Must find him another one, he goes mad for it
