Hi Dragonx I apologize for giving you the incorect information, It turns out I was quarantining my birds the incorect way. I am now going to start quarantining the way everyone else has suggested.

Another point to make............

If you are paying petshop bird prices which are most often way dearer than breeder prices......

if you bought a number of birds from a breeder instead....

the savings you would make would pay for better meds from the vet.

okay well heres what I can get. So far if anybody has any names of other popular brands that can get the below please tell. Non vet drugs as I found out you must have your bird diagnosed with the condition or It is illegal to give the script out for it. That's the law I was told.

1) A lice and mites treatment easy enough to get many brands.

2) Wormer once again very easy to get. Loads of brands.

3) Protozoa/canker/Coccidia Ronivet-S hard to find and Coccivet

4) Psittacosis TRIPLE C Treats psittacosis

5) CALCIVET for calcium supplementation.

6) Vitamin supplementation loads to choice.

7) Probotic found a few.

8) Megacteria somebody said lemon juice but didn't say how much.

 

Does anybody use lemon juice to treat Megacteria or is there a non vet drugs I can get? Now this is the only one I need to find a treatment for.

 

So I really need to find now petshop brands for treatments for Megacteria and at least another choice to choose for treatment for canker.

I know you can use Megabac-S for megabacteria. I am pretty sure It can be bought from vetafarm, I will look now.

And you can also get avi-cal for calcium Supplement.

Correct but try to get it... It is easier to get Fungalin. The active ingredient is the same.

We often talk about vet prices, but I bought my doxycycline (forget the commerical name) from my avian vet, and I have to say, there is very little difference from what I pay at pet shops for things compared to what I pay him. i think the container cost me $35 and it will last me a while.

 

Can i suggest that you ring your local avian vet, tell him about the birds you are buying, and ask him the price of some doxy? think of it as a fact finding mission. If he tells you a price that is too dear, then you have only lost the cost of the phone call, but he might be able to help out.
