Posted January 22, 200916 yr Really good hens can be rare. I have a hen who has the sweetest disposition in the nestbox. She is a dilute dominant pied hen and is split blue. When in the nestbox, I can look in there and she just casually looks at me. If I need to check eggs or chicks, she either moves over or lifts up off chicks and eggs, or she lets me move her. She doesnt squark, she lets me lift her and move her in the nestbox. She lets me put her back through the nestbox hole into the breeder cage while I check her babies. I can lift her onto me and give her a scratch or a cuddle and she is so calm. In short she is an absolute angel of a bird. I havent got a name for her yet, so feel free to offer suggestions. Here she is with two of her chicks and one foster ( recessive pied ) Edited January 22, 200916 yr by KAZ

January 22, 200916 yr I love hens like that. I have one who is sooo calm and also is great as I can catch her from the avairy with her partner and give her a two or three day old chick and she will start producing crop milk within the day! Yours is very pretty! As for names, Angel or Sweets
January 23, 200916 yr Wow.. how did she get to be so calm and tame in the aviary? Did you have her since she was a baby? Hens like that are so sweet

January 23, 200916 yr She is adorable - what an angel. I'd call her "Teddy" hehe because she is soft and cuddly and looks like her babies are using her as a teddy to cuddle up to Edited January 23, 200916 yr by **Liv**
