I'm sorry to correct you Neat, but ......... If the cock is not split for ino, the mating will not produce any visual albinos.

This is due to the ino gene being sex linked, in other words, linked to the X chromosome.

The only way to get albino hens, is if the cock is split for ino, which will produce % of albino hens and cocks.

However, in both cases, all "non-visual albino" cock chicks from the matings will be split for the ino gene.

This link might help:

See I was close ... Knew it was hens ....

I should have elaborated more on it ... was tried last night :P

No need to be sorry to correct me mate ....

Cock to Albino Hen 50%Normal Split Sex Linked Cocks & 50% Normal Hens

Cock / Split Albino to Albino Hen 25% Albino cocks 25% split albino cocks 25% Albino hens 25% normal hens

In other words you'd get all blues... no albino's, but some of your boys could be split albino :P

As for a name... I say Angel.

Talking with one of Australia's most esteemed albino breeders on the weekend and he says the best pairing for an albino is a grey normal to reduce suffusion. Grey normal split to ino to produce your inos of course too would help.

This breeder gets thousands for his birds and has a 2 year waiting list for his albinos.

I read a similar article on this idea for breeding lacewings too.

Breed her with an Albino cock if you want Albino young. Nothing else with give you albino's.

Or a /albino bird...

You can't tell by looking if the grey bird is split for ino, the only way you will be able to find that information out is by asking the person that bred the grey bird... if you don't know who bred the bird then the only real way of finding out is by breeding with him.

For instance if you bred your albino to a normal grey and there were albino's you would know that your grey was split to ino... if you didn't get any you would know that the male offspring from the air would be /ino :D
