Posted January 18, 200916 yr Hi all, just wondering if what my 7-8 week old baby budgie Pebbles does is normal?? She sits on her perch at night, lifting the two front toes on each foot in turn (left, right, left, right etc. every couple of seconds) as she sleeps. It also ricochets throught the aviary, as there is no other noise at the time, and i think it may be disturbing my 9-month old cock Duke. During the daytime she is her usual active self, playing with the mirror, biting Maverick's tail and all Sorry i should probably put this in another topic but ive just put the baby budgies in the aviary a few days ago, they seem to be settling in fine, but my 9 month old Duke seems to be afraid of both of them :S whenever one comes up to him, he runs off like mad. And when hes cornered by both of them he tries to fly off, but because he cant fly he falls to the bottom of the aviary. Why is he so afraid?? Thanks in advance
January 18, 200916 yr I had never seen a budgie do that before until we got Cosmo. On our first few days or so, he tapped his feet alternatingly whenever we played music to him. Not sure why, but he has stopped now. Maybe it's a self-soothing thing? Or maybe getting used to balancing on the new type of branch/perch? I have no idea! (PS- i know alternatingly isn't a word )
January 21, 200916 yr Author ahaha okay well she doesnt seem to be doing it as much now :hap: yeah we did have a plastic perch in there but we recently stripped the plastic so maybe she is just getting used to it :hap: thanks!!
January 21, 200916 yr ahah lol strange i agree i think its like a baby putting things in it mouth and hands to learn and in this case its beak and feet :hap:
January 21, 200916 yr I agree baby budgies tend to do more goofier things and then they settle down...
