Hello,

I'm hoping to add this budgie to my flock, if it is female (my other two are female). However, I have a feeling it's male. :( Your input would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. I have found the website quite informative and all the budgie pictures are gorgeous.

Thanks, Heather

Hello Again,

Thank you everyone, for your confirmations. Now the hard part...deciding weather this gorgeous boy :( is for me (and my fellow female flock). It won't quite be a trio of three girls. :(

Just buy a 2 males and then they can each have a boyfriend B)

Try not to put two females in with one male. I would agree with Jimmy Banks and get another male. But don't breed him as he is under age.

Welcome to the best site on the net!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but if you don't want accident breeding or deal with that which it CAN happen, go with a female just like him. I agree it is a male, the 3rd picture is an excellent shot of the cere. A female cere will be a lighter pink, with large white nostril rings or have a tan tinge to it (in most cases).

I can confirm he is male, everyone is right. Singing like a true boy, he is quite a bit louder then my females.

I decided I had take him. Soon as he started talking...I could not resist :) . Since my two females are the spawn of prolific and accidental breeders, he will be housed separate from the girls. In about two months he may be housed in a separate bird cage beside the girls, but they will only be having supervised play time  .

I finally got him out of the cage and on my shoulder so he is making great progress!

I'm wondering about his age though. He seems more developed then my 4 month old budgie.

Thanks Heather
