Posted January 9, 200916 yr I was wondering at what age you sell baby budgie's because I was hoping in about four or five months I'de like to breed my green pair again, 2 months ago they had a clutch of 7 eggs and four chicks came of it(Good for a first time) but yeah i was just wondering. Also I dicied to keep the whole of the first clutch.

Also I dicied to keep the whole of the first clutch. They have to be able to eat on their own. They fledge at about 4 weeks (that means come out of the nest box) but they still rely on their parents for about a further 10 days. So I'd say you should wait until they are at least 6 weeks.
January 10, 200916 yr Author Thansk I'll keep it all in mind, I'm not planning for a good 5 months or so because they need their rest.
January 10, 200916 yr I agree with the others 6 - 7 weeks old AS LONG AS THEY CAN EAT - FLY - AND FEND FOR THEMSELVES It also Depends if they are pet or show types If they are Show types and your are in the " Show side" of the hobby best to wait like Daz said 3 - 4 months (after their first molt) so you can see the potential that they may or may not have If they are pet type 6 - 7 weeks so they can be tamed and bond better ..... :cake:
January 11, 200916 yr I agree with everyone else. 6-8 weeks for mine. The 6 oldest from my two clutches now are 6 - 7 weeks old and they will be going to their new homes next Friday. All are eating well on their own for a week now so I agree based on what's happening for me now.
January 11, 200916 yr 3 to 6 months. Got to give them a chance to mature. I mean I sell my ones that you can tell are not going to make the grade at 7 weeks on But the ones that show protental and out of my best birds I keep till that have molted even later like Dazpotential. The line I have going are slow matures that can take up to 12 months or more to come into their glory.
January 20, 200916 yr Don't sell them to early, i agree with everyone else, Yesterday I saw 5 budgies in the pet shop all huddled in the corner as if it was a nest box, they were way to young to be away from their parents
