How To Tell What The Markings Are?

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me what markings my lacewing has? (I'm assuming lacewings can be opaline, spangle or pied)

and, what made you come to that conclusion?

Thanks a million :thankyou:

From what I understand lacewings are either normals or opalines. Hard to tell from that photo :thankyou:

really that's interesting, I wonder why they can't be pied or spangle...

Lacewing refers to the markings on the wing............a pied or spangle has different markings.

she looks opiline to me jb but looking at my questions lattley

well .... ?

can not see other bird well

Opaline Lacewing and I wouldn't be surprised if she was a Dark Green.

rip how can you tell she is spangle also ?

If the markings appeared in a pied pattern (such as with clear flights) then that would be an indication that she was also masking dom pied

Your lacewing is opaline. Looking at the wings you can see the opaline wing pattern. If a lacewing is masking another mutation like spangle you wouldn't be able to see it, the mutation would covered in the same way as mutations can be hidden by lutinos and albinos

thats what i would have thought nev cheers for the clarification

she is a ino background after all (lace wing)

Ahh okay.. I get the whole masking thing... I just figured if they didn't mask opaline or normal they wouldn't mask spangle or pied

RIP what gives you the idea it would be a dark green?

all birds are either green or white (blue series), in this case the bird is a green series with the blue being erased from the mutation leaving the yellow base and because the yellow is darker you can say if the blue was present then it would be a dark green (1 dark factor)

From what I understand lacewings are either normals or opalines. Hard to tell from that photo
why do you say that Kaz?
