Posted January 5, 200916 yr Hi everyone today Greg bought home my new baby Cockatiel Here he or she is (hoping he is a he and not a she) He hasn't been named yet because we can't decide poor little fella "The bird with no name" Isn't he cute
January 5, 200916 yr Can I suggest a name ?? I love the patchiness of its feathering and the name that springs to mind is CALICO and it suits male or female. See if it suits him/her :thankyou:
January 5, 200916 yr Wow stunnniing bird! I love his colouring also Could call it Tonto, wasn't he a patched horse or something from a cowboy and indian show?
January 5, 200916 yr He or she will look like a hen until the first moult at 6 months of age. You could sex it by watching the behaviour closely... Boys tend to sing Also its a pied (one of the hardest to sex) Very nice tiel I like the name "patch" or "freckles"
January 5, 200916 yr Wow stunnniing bird! I love his colouring also Could call it Tonto, wasn't he a patched horse or something from a cowboy and indian show? yes the lone ranger i so loved that show high ho silver away thanks for the memorie jult tonto was the indians horse
January 5, 200916 yr Author I am thinking of calling him Flick, poor thing but then I like cloud, sky and Pie gee it's hard and Liv I also like patch. going to let him settle in and see what I think in a couple of days. But keep the names coming I don't mind Edited January 5, 200916 yr by splat
January 5, 200916 yr wow he is stunning. Is he really that dark grey? Love the squiggly bits round his eye. Strike (striking!), Squiggle? Lol
January 5, 200916 yr I love the pied mutation it is my favorite in cockatiels, pieds can only be DNA sexed or when they get older by their behavior .
January 5, 200916 yr Author I think I might call him Charlie, and assume he is a he till I know he is a she, Anyway Charlie has settled in really good so far Thanks for all your kind welcomes to Charlie
January 6, 200916 yr Author Charlie can be used for a boy or a girl now a days , I like the name. That's what I thought Elly, I have a cousin who was called Charlie but her real name was Arlene but she was always called Charlie And he reminds of Charlie from Charlie in Willy Wonka and the cholate factory, it's the blond hair. January 6, 200916 yr Charlie is a great name. My pied tiel is called Sammy and i am pretty sure she is hen, but either way it doesn't matter with a unisex name
January 6, 200916 yr Does your wife know how many you are planning on having Lol!! I desperatley wanted mine to be a boy- didnt want a girl under any circumstance, reckon I would have said put her back if it'd been a girl first. Now I have my boy I'm not worried what or when the next one is. You little fella is gorgeous JB I love that picture
January 6, 200916 yr She's not worried. I've come back to 4 from 6. I'm not going to be disappointed if its a girl, I will take what I can get, but I would like the boys first so they can look after there little sister when she grows up. I'm an old fashioned kind of father when it comes to daughters. I've already started thinking of ways to scare the young juvinile boys away :glare: My poor poor daughter. :glare: And thank you for the compliments on my boy, he's a cutie. Takes after his mum.
