What 2009 Melbourne Shows Are Coming Up?

The wife and I are interested in getting to a show or two to have a look...we have just begun breeding (I bred for many years as a boy, but never got into showing) and would like to see what features are desireable to keep some of our young for breeding stock, and to make the right selection when purchasing new. The information available here and elsewhere is fantastic, but nothing beats seeing "for real".

Cheers.

Also where are you located? Are you in a club yet or have you visited one? Most clubs run a mini show for club members birds at their meetings and they are almost better as someone is usually there to instruct beginners, etc so you really gt the low down on what it is about certain birds that makes them show material. Clubs are always happy for you to come for a look and see what it is all about with no obligation.

yeah, I would agree with MB. go to the BCV website and find your local club, talk to them and see if you can get to a local show. I've never had a bad encounter with members :laughter:

JB and MB, you guys need to take me to one one day! :laughter: Pwetty pweeze!

I'm not a club member yet... I just like contacting different clubs and going for a look see what's going on. To be honest the first club is the hardest one. after that you're fine :laughter:

We are on the Mornington Peninsula, close to Hastings.

Thanks for the advice...we like the sound of that idea probably more than going to one of the bigger shows. Joining a club is something that is on the to do list; have a vague idea that there is one over towards Cranbourne, but that is as far as we have gone down that track.

You in Bittern? My hubby is from there :glare: The one in Cranbourne no longer exists I believe, Cranbourne members come to the city ones now, we are at Eastern District(Box Hill) and we have a member from Cranbourne

  • 8 months later...

hi guys wondering if anyone can tell me what time i should arrive at the shield in Preston tomorrow i am going along for a look experience it all see what i am in for if my breeding's are successful

im expecting to be very frightened as im going alone and apart from a few club members (who i probbly wont even reconize, and if i did wouldnt really have time to socialize i suspect ) im going to know no one so if anyone is going, and you see me ,let me know who you are i will be the one looking all nervous and alone talking to the birds lol not people i will also be wearing a orange and blue dress with a black jacket be sure to say hi gb :D i would love to meet you ;)
