box 5 failed due to hen being not breederbal was pet shop risk one i took due to her being / rec and from a show breeder down my way cull stock that has beautiful rec pies other cocks from this same breeder i have had sucsess but they were cocks

 

im joining club soon so no more cull buys from pet shop infact till i know where i want to head with the show size birds no buying period exept mabe one i have eye on at upcomming oction nice cock bird 2 year old

but more on that all when i actually join at minit its a serious thought just dont know how i will fit in mmmmmmm i already owe an apoligy to one member for my out right rudeness and cant wait to do this as its been eatting at me all month

today i have 12 chicks all up

and on the 26th i put up my first pairs of show birds

 

first pair

lacewing blue based hen x norm/opaline midium grey cock

with this pair i just want to achive some nice splits with good spots and to fix the lack of bottom on my grey cock hopefully i will get at least one cock with a full bottom,spots and good head size im not worryed about the frountal blow or chest as both birds are well off in this area but complement eachother so if im right i should get a good rezult with this pairing

 

second pair

grey spangle hen x opaline grey/rec pie

with this pair the hen has a good wide head and full bottom end so im again filling in the bottom area and trying to add with of head in the chicks although the cock is fine in head and spots his blow could be bigger

 

pair three is just a upsize for my pet types

lacewing hen and grey spangle /albeno cock

i hope to get one albeno hen if not never mind the chicks will be very nice size for my pet rainbow line when it hits off next year

 

and im pairing a dom pie cock x my cinnamon cobalt opaline spangle hen i got from splat and kazzy she isnt ready quiet yet but im marrying them off he is my best cock in head ,blow ,size ,lenghth wings ,tail the lot exept for he lacks the perfict markings and is full body not with the chest strip he is dark grey his mask and spots are beautiful

they will be put down end july

 

these are my first show bird to show bird pairings so i will see if the mith is true that breeding show size birds is harded and takes more time and effort only time will tell

all chicks were breed for sale and to test first time mums abillity as a mother

ps my first show size chick hatched yesterday it is the grey spangle hens

but the lacewing hatched and is feeding very well (her eggs were clear )

spangle had 7 eggs so i decided to place one under lace so it could get idea of being first time mum their eggs are due one same days

okay so its been a while

and all the birds i put down as show birds ....well turns out most were not really of the quality needed

so i let them sit anyhow and raise a clutch

but so much bad luck all due to my own fault though

 

first my lacewing hen a beautiful bird she had 5 eggs to my norm grey boy

but they were all infertile this was due to me placeing a cock bird in last minite removing the one their

as i thought he was a bit young

all went well matting as should but the cock was just comming out of molting so and the hen she wasnt in condition either

i thought they were but when i see them today in their glory i relized they were not ready

 

then their was my grey spangle hen and my opaline grey /rec pie cock

well they had 6 eggs

two hatch and died

and today one hatched and been feed well so

one egg left in her nest as others were transported to other nests as i wanted a chick or two to live so i fostered them out

she will have two to raise thats good as first time mum so...

 

third pair my other lacewing and pet type /ino

they had a chick hatch and die yesterday but other eggs look okay

i replaced her chick with a bubby born yesterday from another nest that had 6 chicks and is a first time mum so...she is feeding it well

 

this is to me a good rezult as i had a member of my club come and cradle my eggs for me and they said they were all infertile that i should take them out and let them lay again

but i said i had other birds show size that had eggs due on same days so was going to let them all sit it out and replace eggs that dont hatch with chick born on that day from other hens so they could all feed first time being their first clutch and all

so at moment

i have at moment four chicks one was born with fluff so hope its nice its head is wide too so

well will update as more hatch if they hatch as they ment to be infirtle

i got my a into gear and took pics of all birds and chicks

i hope i dont confuss you as their has been a lot of egg and chick swapping

then the other day my albino hen and her partner he was going in and out the nest and he is so big

he squashed two out of five chicks in two days

so i fostered them to grey hen

so ....she has now five chicks again and is very happy and a very good mum

i had to resusatate one it was cold and i thought id lost two in one go but i did the blow of life

and chirping moving under the new mum and baby saved

well all chicks are doing great

i am bit unwell so havent been handling chick unless really needed

three grey two opaline so have to be hens

and three grey green chicks two normal wing one spangled

these chicks are / ino if cocks and i thing two are

then i have my albino/lacewing chicks again only / lacewing if the chicks are cocks other wize just albino hens

a Opaline spangled violet dominant pied hen

and a sky blue normal/Opaline / rec pied cock

 

the albino cock is its foster father only, as is the lacewing hen their foster mum

the the chicks are both opaline spangles

one sky blue

the other sky violet the one pitcured her is the sky violet chick

i think they are both hens

they are all just pet type chicks bar the grey greens

but all are from show breed lines bar two cocks which i breed myself from a mix pet and show type breeding

it at this age i tame up any that i know i will be selling due to either colour or sex mutation ect

that way if some one wants a tame pet its tame by time its out and if just for aviary

its nice to have birds that are not frightened when you come in and out some even come and greet you due to being handled in nest
