Is This A Yucca

Can anyone who knows about indoor plants confirm this is a Yucca and hence safe for our budgie (according to the FAQs) please.

I'm not going to feed it to him, but its in his room and he likes to climb on it. So far there's no evidence that he has chewed it, but I would if I were him! :D

It looks like a yucca to me but I'm not expert at differentiating between plants so hopefully someone else can confirm

It looks like a Cordyline (sp?) to me. Yuccas are succulents and have more fleshy leaves, cordylines have thinner smooth, shiny leaves

Thanks MB & Krosp. It does have thin smooth leaves. Are cordylines toxic? They're not in the list. :)

I can't find anything other than that the leaves of the Cabbage Palm (Cordyline australis) are a recommended nestng material for lovebirds :)

okay thanks, hopefully they should be okay then I guess.

Agree... not a Yucka. Maybe just make sure he doesn't eat it... and if you are worried, move it, replace it with something safe or FAKE!!! lol.... I am surprised to admit you can get some real looking fakies out there now days.

Sorry it looks like I have wasted your time. :) I just removed the plastic pot from the outer pot and the sticker is still on it. It is a Yucca (just a fairly neglected one :baby: )

After a quick google it looks as if its not only non-toxic, but has some medicinal qualities as well. I'm not going to feed it to him, but I won't panic if he's in it. His new gym seems to keep him entertained and he hasn't gone near it since then anyway.

Thanks for your responses though! ;)
