December 31, 200816 yr Yes Kazzy, any time you want to post new pictures of this aviary I'm sure none of us will complain. It is a masterpeice!
December 31, 200816 yr I showed the picture of the avary to my hubby and he has now said he mght not mind me having millions of aviaries if they look like that He also reckons it would be well within his abilities to build them for me so I'm thrilled that it sounds like it might work out and I might get something that looks even half as good as yours! We are planning on landscaping a large yard when we move with meandering paths, etc and a number of avaries similiar to this dotted around for our various birds. I think a visit maight be definately on the agenda Kazzy so the boys can talk construction techniques and we can talk budgies OH MAN I so want to move like NOWWWWWW!!!!!

January 20, 200916 yr Author Thanks everyone for your comments!! My husband built this for me very grudgingly. However, when anyone new comes around to our place he is very quick to "show off" the aviary. I'm in the midst of collecting old rusty "stuff" as most of the wheels and ploughs in the photos are my brother in-law's. (We are looking after them while he is in between houses). When I get some more things setup I'll post more photos.

April 24, 201015 yr Author Thanks Kaz, its working really great. I have done some upgrades: Enclosed a small part of the veranda for breeding cages, concreted the floor, and put a small garden along the front. Of course since joining the local budgie club, I have expanded my flock quite quickly and found that the room that I have could run out very quickly. However, I am determined for this not to happen as I love my aviary and its appeal and don't want it to begin to look like a very big mess of sheds added together. Staying to a strict managable sized flock also keeps only the best birds in my aviary to work with. I have also started a vegetable garden and of course grow silverbeet especially for the birds. Although the sparrows love them too! Those pests! These photos were taken about 6 months ago, but not much has changed since (except the plants have grown a bit......actually looking at it now... the plants have grown alot)
April 24, 201015 yr Its absolutely beautiful. My goodness, I aspire to have an aviary as awesome as yours one day It looks like you've gone back in time, stolen an old, tin roof house and brought it back with you...especially with the skull hanging from the verandah. waaaaiiiit....Kazzy, did you go back in time?
April 25, 201015 yr It's simply the best looking aviary I have ever seen, AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How many birds does it house
April 25, 201015 yr Great to see things are moving along for you. That has to be the best aviary I have seen for a long time based on Australiana type themes. Thanks for posting updates
April 25, 201015 yr Author Thanks guys. I do love it too. Taboo, it can hold about 100 to 150 birds. They have plenty of room to fly and do love it too. I feel we did go back in time Maddy! We searched many places to get recycled materials. We found the old toilet door and porch flooring at a demolish of a house, and the roofing iron and weather boards was from an old farm house. I think it took more time actually getting the recycled materials than actually putting it up! Heres another photo. View from the house:
