Finally! - Got Some Spangles Today

Well I aspire to breed spangles but my entire show type spangle list consisted of one DF spangle who won't breed :D I went and visited Wayno today and came home with 3 adult spangle hens a adult DF spangle cock and a gorgeous spangle baby who I think is a hen but is in that stage where it is a little hard to tell so it should become clear in the next month or so. As usual more hens than cocks but I couldn't pass up the spangles :D

So here they are

skyblue opaline spangle hen

grey spangle hen

cinnamon grey spangle hen (the one that looks like a clearwing in the photo just because her markngs are so pale)

blue series DF spangle cock (he's small but I saw his parents and they were big so hoping he'll throw bigger babies)

green cinnamon spangle baby (pretty sure it's a hen but hopng it turns out to be a cock)

Way to go MB. :D The Spangle Cinnamon and the Spangle baby look to be nice sorts. Don't forget the spangle who is small and may be smaller than his siblings stills has the same genetic make up. Here's a tip for ya. Don't worry about having more hens than cocks. Hens are always harder to get in quality. I have often put a good cock over two or more hens at the same time. The hen is quite capable of carrying out the parental responsibilities all by herself.

RIP is right it is better to have more hens than cocks and MB the sky blue and grey cinn are also both opalines. They look like nice birds do you know their blood line?

I don't know much about their bloodlines. Wayne isn't a registered show breeder, he does keep good records but sources birds all over the place, he was able to tell me about the known history of most of them, he thought off the top of his head that the grey opaline spangle is the daughter of the cinny grey spangle so I will keep that in mind when I pair up their respective offspring.

Not unhappy to have some nice spangle hens it's just that now I have way more hens than I know what to do with :D Ah well a good excuse to buy some cocks :D

I actually said to Wayne that she didn't look great in the picture he posted of her and I hadn't planned to take her but when I saw her in real life she was much nicer so I snapped her up. In Wayne's picture she looked very long in the flights which she isn't... I'll keep you in mind when I pair her up maybe we could do a swap, I'm hoping to breed her atleast once this season before I pack up to move next year so hopefully soon I might have some bubs from her :D

I put my best cock with 3 different hens at the same time, so I plan on having many hens and less cocks :D

[that would be lovley cause if i had a car i would have been their in a heart beat i can see he has good birds well what i look for anyways not to big not to small all healthy and keeped well also would love bubby sooooo much the colours you have are just down my line as you know and i have perfict swap for you when time comes its not born yet but its heratage is just up your ally ^_^B):D so and from my show size stock but either way next year i will have some lovleys for you will chat in apropriate place latter soz all i got exited

Congratulations MB! hope you do well. if your still looking for cocks you could think about asking daz if he's getting rid of any, just an idea ^_^

Yeah, just the finances are tight at the moment and by the time I add the cost of freight it's a bit much so I think I'll have to look more locally ^_^ I'd love to get my hands on someof Daz's birds, so maybe when he does his next cull I'll be able to

Nice birds MB

I looooove the grey Opaline spangle hen ^_^

dropping in to say congrats...I myself love the spangles too :D
