Have a look a the picture above. Notice her feet. I had not noticed until Kaz pointed it out to me. She has developed "scaley face" on her feet.

She needed to be treated and ASAP.

I caught her, put a spot of Ivermectin on the back of her head. I then put Olive oil on her feet. Then I returned her to the aviary.

She appears much better. The big lumps have gone from her feet and her skin is returning to the normal colour.

I will give her a few more weeks, then I will repeat this process.

I often look over my birds for scaley face, checking beaks and ceres, but rarely do I look at feet. Remember, just because their beaks are clear, it does not mean that the rest of them is fine. An important lesson for all bird owners to remember!!!

I will take some new pics and update you on her progress.

Thanks for that info dave. Will go and check my birds feet to make sure there are noone i missed - i too also look at the beak and cere for the signs of scaly face.

I should note too, for members who may not have seen the other post, the featured bird had recently pigged out on beetroot and that is what the dark coloured staining on her feathers is

well picked up on Kaz.

Thanks for pointing it out Dave. I wouldn't of thought to check the feet either...
