bluebell has been in breeding condition for nealy 6 months and i dont know if this is normal? how long should a budgie be in condition for it to be normal? is it bad if its too long?

hmmm not sure mate.. not sure if this is the thread everyone is posting in or the other one but no ones posted in either at the moment

I have read that a budgies breeding condition cycle happens every 7 weeks, I'm assuming that it means the budgie comes into condition in week 1 and is fully out of condition by week 7.

Maybe you could post a picture, many of my birds never get that whitish blue colour but the amount of brown crustiness just changes a little

I've never had a females cere go white/blue before. Mine are either very light brown or very dark brown.

I don't really know how the breeding condition cycle for hens works, but i have breeding age hens who will stay in condition for years. I have only really noticed condition changes when there are nesting boxes available.

It is okay for her cere to stay brown that long - it's okay for it never to go back to white. It doesn't mean she's necessarily fully in condition, but if she had a mate and a nesting box (and possibly also if it is the right time of year) she should get into full breeding condition pretty quickly and start nesting.
