Posted December 18, 200816 yr Just for the sake of curiousity..one of my budgies, Sunny, I thought was a yellowface1..and now he's gone through his first molt and lost the bars on his head..and also gotten like 3 green feathers amongst his blue. Does this mean he's actually yf2, or can yf1's actually have a couple green feathers after the first molt? I think any green feathers at all is a definite that he's a yf2, but I'm not sure. Thanks
December 18, 200816 yr If the yellow goes through the wings and body as well that means yellow face 2
December 18, 200816 yr Does anyone care what I'm saying??? Probably not cos its the same as everyone else YF2 with pictures required
December 19, 200816 yr Author Here's a picture of him now..I have modified it a bit, as in the original you could hardly see the green feathers....hope you can now: Really, it's just his normal colour, except for like 3 or 4 bright green feathers. As his wings were getting their new feathers, there is yellow on the outside of the feather, unlike a normal blue coloured bird where it's white..so he's yf2 then?
December 20, 200816 yr Yep sounds like it. Also with the pet types you are almost guarateed its a type 2 they are more common than a type1, t1 come about more often in the show scene where breeding and mutations are more tightly controlled
December 20, 200816 yr That picture it is very difficult to see the face and body personally but very commonly it is say wait for the 1st molt and see how the yellowface bleeds in to see if it is a 1 or 2, very interesting pie I didn't know that but it makes sense since I have read that YF2 is a fault in the show area. December 20, 200816 yr do they even show type 2? I thought I read on here that they didn't... Good question JB, I though you can but it is a fault or maybe not at all, good question to ask in the show area.
December 21, 200816 yr ahh I thought that was the case See this forum is full of information you just have to READ READ READ

Is there any chance at all, when you post pictures requiring a diagnosis of colour....could you please post a picture that isnt edited like this with shapes and backgrounds....could you just post a natural light picture as it comes ? That picture makes things very difficult.
December 23, 200816 yr Author I know..sorry, but until I get a new camera, (goodness knows when that's happening lol) I can't, if it's a natural picture to show his green feathers, you can't see it at all. Trust me, I've tried. But considering how yf2 is described usually..I think he's a yf2. But I do have another question...Kyra, who I was told is a Recessive Pied, has had her first moult..and gotten iris rings..Her parents were a Mauve Normal/Rec Pied and a Violet Spangle Opaline Clearflight Pied (maybe split for Recessive..not sure now). She is a Mauve Violet..here's some pics of her..so what is she, she can't be a Recessive Pied if she's got iris rings (they are very easy to see, not on my junk camera though, sorry..trust me, they are there though) so is she a Clearflight Pied, or something else?
December 23, 200816 yr The bird is a Continental Clearflight otherwise known as a Dutch Pied. Unless both parents were split Recessive you would never have produced a visual Recessive Pied. The bird sitting directly under the Goldenface is also a Dutch Pied.

I was told Kyra was a Recessive Pied, so the only way I would have gotten her was that her mother would be split Recessive as well.. Yeah, that bird is Kyra's half brother, the Spangle under him is their mother. Thanks for the help.
