She will still need to put cages/cabinets in the 3rd section so that she can use it as a bird room but its set up in a way that she can do that if she wishes. She might just put two birds in there at a time with a couple of nest boxes, I wouldn't because then it probably doesn't have a safety door, but if thats what she wanted to do it still wouldn't be colony breeding...
December 16, 200816 yr Looking back through the post...LBB says she will have one section for a breeding room, which is cool. And JB anytime there is more than one pair breeding in the same space it is colony breeding :grouphug:

I said a couple of nest boxes just so you give the hen a choice... she could just have the one nest box if she wanted. By two birds I meant (1 male and 1 female) not 2 pairs, generally a good thing for breeding When she said a Breeding room I just took it as a bird room, like most closed breeders use. She didn't say wether or not it has cabinets in it already, if it does then all the more betterer :grouphug:.
December 16, 200816 yr She also says: she is giving me all her breeding cages and all the water and food additives which are helpful during breeding. sounds like closed breeding to me :grouphug:
December 17, 200816 yr I am so envious of all of you that live in Australia. I have enough birds to fill an aviary like this. I have 7 breeding pairs, and 4 more potential breeding pairs, but just don't have the room to put them all down because I have no more room to house them all. I some how have 30 keets, 5 tiels and 7 finches all in my living room in indoor small aviaries and breeding cages. I wish I could add on a room to the house just for them. Temps are way too cold here to even consider and outdoor aviary... temps were in the teens and 20's all last week and it's only December... January and February are even colder.... (** chrissy drifts off into dream land where she could have an aviary fit for a queen**)
December 17, 200816 yr Congrats on the new aviary .. Sounds wonderful. You are very lucky to have a Aunt that nice Don't forget photo's :grouphug:
December 17, 200816 yr She also says: she is giving me all her breeding cages and all the water and food additives which are helpful during breeding. sounds like closed breeding to me :grouphug: I agree MB
December 17, 200816 yr Thanks for pointing that out. I must have missed a few important details. lol!

January 4, 200916 yr Author well in a week and a half my avairy will araive! but i do have an impotant question " the avairy has no floor so do i need to put something down? i am digging and then putting concrete under the grass but my aunty said to put white double washed sand down? is this neccesary. from Elise xx ~ the girl who is excteremly ecxited
January 4, 200916 yr Personally I would just have a concrete base. If you dont want a concrete base you could always use sand, but you would have to watch for mice holes.
