Posted December 15, 200816 yr Some of you may know we just recently lost our beautiful siberian husky Niketa to cancer. This is her just last year pulling the kids around for a short time on the sled. She would have been 14y the day after Christimas. She was beautiful, head strong, independent etc...and lived up to her husky breed. the very forunate thing is that we have so much love to spread we decided to adopt again and went the rescue route like we did with Cabela our min pinscher. After a 3 week process of adoption application, checking reference, getting a home visit in and more we adopted a gorgeous German Shephard. He is very special as we live in Ohio and his foster parents live in New York (the distance between us was about 300 miles and 4.5 hours 1 way) so thanksfully they met us 1/2 way yesterday and we were able to bring him home to be part of our forever family. A little bit about Sonny is that he was surrendered to a high kill shelter in Kentucky because his owners could not feed him he was emancimated to 58 lbs (he could gain 15 easily) right now as we speak his hip and rib bones still stick out but because the fur covers it you can't see it as good in pictures. A bulldog/pomerian rescue pulled him out of the shelter and then contacted the GSD rescue in New York where they transported him up there for fostering. We found Sonny on petfinders looking for GSD and shot them an e-mail asking if they would consider an out of state adoption and they said yes and the rest is history. These are his pictures his foster mom took, I have been trying to get pictures but not any good ones yet. He has been home with us for 1 day so far and he is the gentlest, sweeting boy you could met, He is just around 8-10 months old. His pictures don't do him justice.
