Well I always feel like I get a fair bit for my money when I shop at my seed place.

 

Today I spent $180 and got:

 

40kg budgie seed

40kg parrot seed

20kg special tonic seed

20kg good dog food

2kg lorikeet food

 

 

 

For anyone who thinks homebrand is a good buy that equates to about $1.20 a kg for the regular seed (tonic seed is like a supplement and is more expensive )

which shop was that from?

Good buy there MB ...

Buying in bulk is the way to go....

 

My order is usually 20kg Canaryseed, 10 kg of each French White , Jap 5kg of red panicum and 10kg hulled oats (grouts)

 

Thats my mix.

 

20 x Canary

10 x French

10 x Jap

5 x Panicum

and a hand full of Niger.

 

The Hulled oats are for the chicks and soft food mix.

What is Niger?

I dunno.. some sort of seed I guess I haven't seen it at my stockfeed place...

Niger or niga as it is more often spelt here are the teeny little round black ones that kind of look like poppy seeds, there is also another one often called niga which is also black but more long and thin like a canary seed.

I have it in one of my seed mixes here JB so I'll show you what it looks like

Pet stores often sell it in small supplement packets. We sell tonic seed and both types of niga seeds etc as well!

Does your tonic seed have a list of ingredients Jess? I know a few companies like Jen's sell it prepackaged but it seems to have lots of funny little manufactured bits in it (they look like 100sand 1000s), the one I am now trying has seeds like coriander and all sorts of other stuff, it looks really good. My budgies would never touch the manufactured bits...

At the moment I am finishing off the "budgie mix" that I first got when I got the birds... After that I think I will make up my own mix now that I've found a good stockfeed place.. there is one closer which I haven't had a chance to go and visit...

We sell Jens "yellow tonic seed etc" and Jens niger seed. But we also sell bulk tonic seed (per kilo or 20kg), its like a dark brown round seed mix.
