December 16, 200816 yr Wow Pieds, THat's all I want at the moment, I have always wanted to breed pieds but can't get any good ones and when I do disaster always strikes, like the hen biting off my 51/2 week cobalt pieds beak, She tore the whole thing off, it was horriable, so that was the end of my pieds again.

December 23, 200816 yr Author I just thought i would add a quick update on my new birds. Â They are all behaving nicely in quarantine and all are looking well. They are far more relaxed now and I am really happy with how they are settling in. when I get the show cage finished and my internet speed gets put back to normal i will post photos of each bird in the show cage :baby: Â I am really excited about seeing them in the show cage too as its really hard to see a budgie in their full glory out of a show cage.

January 15, 200916 yr Grey spangle  Sky blue cinnamon spangle hen from Renee   Light green cock from Kaz  Look Liv, it was really nice of you to quarantine these before sending them onto me, I'm sure they have really appriciated the stop over but I'm ready for them to arrive now and I'll do my own quarantine, it isn't that I don't trust your quarantine its just my normal practice... Just let me know what flight they will be one and when I need to be at the airport to pick them up, its no trouble the airport is only 15 minutes from my house. Really I won't mind at all...
January 15, 200916 yr Great birds Liv. Â Some nice boofy heads. Kaz and I were just discussing how difficult it can be to capture a good photo.
January 15, 200916 yr Author JB, "Liv air express" says freight from Adel to Vic will be $1,000,000 per year, every year !!  Dave - I took all day to take these photos so i know exactly what you mean some birds refused to comply, others sat straight away.  These are my favorites :budgiedance:    This boy was not relaxed in the photo, but he looks really nice when he throws his feathers forward  Ditto with this one    Â

:budgiedance:  I'm not sure if my wife will be able to fit that into our budget, maybe I'll have to wait a year or 2 till you have to cull some of their babies... I got in first people!!!
January 15, 200916 yr Bags'ing birds has always been the way to go Jimmy. Â I have made a special effort to call the houses of Cec Gearing, Gary Armstrong, Gerald Binks, the Al-Nassers, Daz, Hans, Kaz, and a few others to bags all their newborns. Â :anim_19: :anim_19:
January 15, 200916 yr Well done Liv! They are looking good  I know what you mean when you say some just won't sit and pose :budgiedance: .... I have very little patience when it comes to taking photos ....

I thought we had a ban on importing foreign birds... or were you being sarcastic? Edited January 15, 200916 yr by JimmyBanks
January 15, 200916 yr JimmyBanks - yes, I as being sarcastic. No, bags'ing does not work. It does not count. It is not a real or even a reliable method. I am sorry my sarcasm was so strong. Yes, you are right. There are no budgies coming from England to Australia. Â Shannon - I agree with you, I would like any of those birds in my flock as well.

Yes, you are right. There are no budgies coming from England to Australia.  No need to be sorry, I love sarcasm. Just ask anyone that knows me... just hard to pick up on it in type sometimes  Back to the real point of this thread... David (007) which one are you thinking about stealing to use to mate with your hen?? Or is Liv going to charge you a service fee if you do that??? Edited January 15, 200916 yr by JimmyBanks
January 15, 200916 yr Back to the real point of this thread... David (007) which one are you thinking about stealing to use to mate with your hen?? Or is Liv going to charge you a service fee if you do that??? Â Interesting question Jimmy, Â well let me start by saying that I think we have struck up a pretty good deal. You have to remember that I don't know much about this budgie breeding stuff, so she is *helping* me out. Liv has decided that as she is providing such a special cock bird that she has 65% of the first round. I think that's fair. Â I had to laugh and agree with her when she wanted to choose them herself (she doesn't need my help?) Apparently she only wants the biggest ones, the ones with the fluffiest and boofiest heads and the longest most prolific masks. Â I'm all for it - after all just imagine what they would look like - absolute monsters... I did the right thing, didn't I? Â Here is a photo of the mate we have chosen for her: Â A Dominant Pied. Â I didn't sleep last night as I was up making some miniaturised bonding bracelets for them. Apparently we are having a mini "wedding" ceremony for them - nothing special, a bit of champagne, millet wreaths and some mashed corn and beetroot. Â Â Oh and here is a recent photo of her showing off: Â Â Â And another of her... Â
January 15, 200916 yr Yes you did the right thing... We couldn't have you winning all the shows after she's spent years toiling in order to get great birds Its a bit off topic but are you going to get your own rings or are you going to just use hers?
