How long has she had them? That whitish blue cere is an indication of a hen out of condition and is a common cause of confusion for new budgie owners.

I agree 100% with MB on this. I made this mistake myself when I first started... because the basic "blue is boy" "brown is girl". I don't know if it has anything to do with it or not, but I notice almost all of my blue series hens look like this when they are not in condition... when they are in condition the blue fades and the whole thing turns creamy white and crusty.

 

I try to think this way now... if I see blue on the the cere but the nostril area is white... I lean toward girl until proven wrong.

Thats what I said to her as well. These are her first budgies. I said, lovely I think you have two girls. But ill check with the pros just in case. lol. We have her answer. Im just happy I was right! Hheheeh

I thought I'd seen those budgies before :wub: Hope she is the friend that you were helping sign up. :fear It's a very small world.
