Posted December 9, 200816 yr Hello everybody, I'm iRomance and I'm a new budgie/parakeet owner. I used to have a parakeet before, but I bought him out of pity because he was sick. He died within a week, and I felt terrible. It took me about four years to get over it, and now I have purchased a new baby girl. She's super healthy and I bought her just last week. I hope to be a helpful and happy member of this forum, and I also hope to learn new things about my new budgie. I bought a few books and did a ton of research before I bought her, so I know the basics. Anyway, I'm rambling now. I suppose I'll show you pictures! Any advice by looking at her is appreciated, just knowing that she's healthy would be great. I don't know if I can handle another death so soon. Please and thank you! December 9, 200816 yr Hi iRomance Welcome to the forum. Your baby looks gorgeous and looks healthy to me. I think she might be a he but I am sure others will correct me if I'm wrong. Do you have a name for her yet??
December 9, 200816 yr Author Thank you Hmm, maybe you guys are right. I'll check again when he/she wakes up. If the fleshy part above her beak is purple, what does that mean?

December 9, 200816 yr Author Thank you! I'm surprised I understood what you said So if she is a he... then I need to come up with a new name. Thanks you guys, having a boy named Eva would have been embarrassing.
December 9, 200816 yr Evan? lol You might want to replace your plastic perches with natural branches if you can get hold of suitable ones. Much better for their little feet

December 9, 200816 yr Hi and welcome to the forums. He's adorable and congratulations. (sorry for the loss of your other bird ) Here's a link to SAFE WOOD. If you check your back yard or local park (make sure they don't spray), you can use branches from there for his perches. Some members bake them to remove nasties, or you can scrub them down with vinegar and boiling water and leave in the sun to dry... then add. He'd love some fresh branches too, to nibble on. Just be sure to hose them off. I hope you feel very welcome here. We have loads of information in the FAQ's and we also have a search function to look for anything in particular. And remember... ask away if you can not find. We are all hear to help and share our knowledge.
December 9, 200816 yr Hi and welcome Me too....BOY............ :hap: Time to think of boy names :chickendance:
December 9, 200816 yr Author Thanks so much everybody! I tried to take another picture, but he freaked out and started flying around in his cage. Needless to say, I did not get another picture :hap: Now I'll just need to find out how to get him used to my hand and get him to learn step-up. Thanks for the name suggestions, I'll consider all of them.
