Posted December 5, 200816 yr Hey all, Just thought I would pop in a quick message while I was here. Hope you , and your feathered friends, are all doing well at the moment. Some of you will know that I have a budgie that just doesn't know when to stop talking. Some time ago I was trying to think of what next to teach him to say, which seems easier than it is. Kazumi has MANY phrases like: "Hello gorgeous or hello beautiful pretty boy Kazumi, pretty boy I love mummy Have a nice day what a clever boy" the list goes on, and on... well, so I was racking my brain to come up with something before my daughter decided on a 'naughty' phrase and I had just spent the last 3 weeks speaking mainly Malay whilst overseas... so... Kazumi now speaks 3 languages... Budgerigar, English and Malay. His first phrase in Malay being "Selamat datang ke rumah saya"... welcome to my room it's cute. Feathers.
December 5, 200816 yr You have to get a video of that Feathers. My future sister inlaw is from Malaysia and she thinks I'm wierd for keeping budgies, maybe if she see's one speak Malay she'll change her mind!

My future sister inlaw is from Malaysia and she thinks I'm wierd for keeping budgies, maybe if she see's one speak Malay she'll change her mind! Heya JB, That would probably work I am going to be away for the next couple of weeks. Maybe I should get jacquie to teach him another Malay phrase as well while I am in Vic. His first phrase in Malay being "Selamat datang ke rumah saya"... welcome to my room it's cute. Feathers. Thats a mouthful I cant even say it It took kazumi a couple of weeks to get his beak around it too... He started by only saying "selamat datang" (welcome) and then got the "ke rumah saya" after that. It is currently his favourite phrase and his accent is really good too *biggest hugglez* Feathers
December 5, 200816 yr Its easy Kaz... Sal-a-mat da-tang ke ru-mah say-a(ah) Say it slowly at first then speed it up gradually... correct me if I'm wrong but I think I remember my Indonisian... are malay and indonesian exactly the same or are there some differences???
December 5, 200816 yr Pretty sure there are some differences. HI FEATHERS- good to see (?) you again, sounds like you have been busy jet-setting around the place. My old budgie could speak english and "french" (but not the french I could put up here Lol.
December 5, 200816 yr Do you find, as I do, that they tend to pick "phrases" up even faster than single "words"?? Charley is more likely to pick up a whole sentence than just a word. He picked up "good morning thea, you look nice today" in no time at all, yet "I love you too" took a little longer and "hello" took longer still!!
