Buying Supplements In Bulk

Featured Replies

Posted

It has recently become apparent to me that it would be in my best interests to try and buy some of my supplements in box lots to cut down costs. Wondering if anyone does this and which supplier they use or how you find a supplier?

Donno, normally the best price for supplements etc is from the trading table of your budgie club - i know mine sells all its stock at cost

I agree with Liv. Also depends on exactly what product you are referring to as to whether or not its worth buying in bulk.

Things like mineral blocks and other supplements that ony come in smaller boxes. Just as an exampe one of the bokes at our club was showing us a product which comes in a 600g box but he buys a box of 24 at a time, of course I'll ask him about that one but that's just an example. My birds will tear apart a small mineral stone in a few weeks in a breeding cage so it woud be great if I coud buy 20 or 30 at a time. Im pretty sure our club just uses the Budgi Club of Vic trading table and the turnaround on products can be a bit slow so it would be nice to be able to just order things myself.

Mineral blocks can be made more cheaply yourself at home. The recipe is in our food and nutrition section. A lot of other things most definitely are available cheaper on the clubs trade tables. If your own club is not quite up to speed, no reason why you cannot buy at another clubs budgie club meeting.

I do understand the need to get things cheaper however

Well there isn't a trading table at the meeting, you order an item, thn they send the order in, then you wait for the BCV to process it and send it to the secretary, then you have to get it off the secretary

I have looked at making the stones but to be honest I really can't be stuffed

Your club needs to do their own products and trade table.....that system purely SUCKS :P

Even selling stuff to our club members cheaply our club makes a profit off the trade table and its worth doing.

They're to busy organising free bird Giveaway's Kaz... and Nice birds at that!!

It is not slways best to buy to some things ib bulk becaus eof their use by date.

I made the mineral blocks took me half an hour at tops so easy you should give it a go.

I made enough for my whole breeding season and large ones for the aviary

I buy my cuttlefish in bulk plus my sons post it over to me from WA.
