Posted December 1, 200816 yr My youngest chick cut her cere I'm not sure how I noticed a scab yesterday but this morning it red and sore what can I put on it??
December 1, 200816 yr hmmm I'm not sure.. hopefully someone will be able to help you soon. good luck. is it bleeding much or just red now?
December 1, 200816 yr Don't put anything on it, it will heal on it's own, just keep an eye for infection. He probably rubbed his cere on something sharp, check your cage for any sharp objects, the bars on the cage, if he is with another bird maybe they got into a beak fight.

She is with her three other siblings, also when its out flying it bumps into alot of things
December 1, 200816 yr she probably hurt it flying around, it will heal quickly, I remember Merlin did that once to himself too.
December 1, 200816 yr its a bump. one of my fledgelings did exactly the same thing when learning to fly he did a good job at it too as he flew directly into a wall this wound healed in about 4-5 days Just leave it alone and it will heal in a few days Edited December 1, 200816 yr by **Liv**
December 1, 200816 yr Yep Ernie's cere, in Liv's picture above, is perfect now. You wouldn't know he ever hurt it.
December 2, 200816 yr WE need to develop Budige crash helmets! One of mine did that as well, as other have said about 5 days and all gone. Unless it is bleeding (mine was) I just put blood stop powder on it but corn flower or pepper works just as well. If it's not bleeding then just take lots of pictures of his battle wound!
December 2, 200816 yr Author Is it still okay for her to come out and play with her siblings? I let them out two times a day to fly, 1 on there own with just her siblings then I let the uncle out with the babies.
December 2, 200816 yr Author does the uncle know he is the uncle? No but he is, he just plays with and kisses them, some times he mounts them but I put him back in his cage if he does.
December 2, 200816 yr Liv left Ernie in his cage for a couple of days after his little misadventure to give it a chance to heal.
December 2, 200816 yr Yeah, I did that just to make sure he didn't reopen the scab by crashing into something else - he was only in the cage for a couple of days :bump:
December 2, 200816 yr Author Yeah, I did that just to make sure he didn't reopen the scab by crashing into something else - he was only in the cage for a couple of days But she's In a cage with her three other siblings so should I put her in with her parents for a bit?
December 3, 200816 yr If it happened from bumping into something while flying then I wouldn't think the siblings would make it any worse. Here's Ernie after about 2 weeks or so. Edited December 3, 200816 yr by Hills
