A bird costs whatever you are willing to pay in an auction and hens are sought after, especially if they have features you want and arent "ordinary" :)

Yeah, I'm thinking I would gladly pay 65 for number 2 that bird is gorgeous! Good job KAZ.

Oh Dave :28:

Nice buys Kaz... I'm sure you'll get some beauties out of them!

Really? Dodgy bros actually exists? how unfortuante.

Back in the early 90's there was a tv show called Fast Forward. This was when the original cast did the show. Steve Vizard, Peter Moon, Magda Zbanski, etc. Anyway, one skit was with these guys called Dodgy Brothers. They used to come up with the crappest inventions, and try to promote their stuff as being the "newset best thing out there". For a few of us, whenever we looked at somethign ****, we would always say it came straight from the Dodgy Brothers. So to me, Dodgy Bro.'s means bad or mixed bloodlines. How funny that they are actual breeders!?!?!?!?!

A budgerigar judge who was sitting behind me when I won the bird, commented that the #2 bird was fantastic and I got a real bargain there. Gazzard bloodlines raises the price ordinarily. BUT as this bird looked spangle and was in fact a greywing spangle ...I guess there was some confusion as to his type. He will be handy to breed with.

What happened to no.9 above his cere?

Can I ask how you get your own Blood Line? Does that mean they have line bred the birds or does it simply mean that they bred it??

If you read the comment UNDER that photo you will see he has his new pin feathers coming through there.....they are itchy and he is rubbing his head, but I can see the pink area is ALL pin feathers and it may not show well in the photo.

Bloodline, I believe, refers to a breeder who is successful and consistently breeds birds with features that are recognisable as having his own stamp on them....also a breeder who is successful in budgerigar shows and at national level. A breeder who has established a bloodline where all the birds he is breeding are true to his type and all carrying his legrings going back to grandparents etc.....birds with a genetic history. A breeder of this standard then commands a price for his birds as his reputation and birds speak for themselves. Thats what I perceive a bloodline to be. Most of my birds are Gary Armstrong bloodlines. I have Jan Mac Mahon bloodlines as well, and some Rita Posthuma and Gary Armstrong bloodlines in my recessive pieds.

okay.. Thanks for that Kaz. So O'Conner & Turner are the Breeders of No. 2 but it's parents were Gazzard bloodlines?? Is that right?

No...one parent was an O'Connor & Turner bird and the other parent was a Gazzard bird.

you're so patient Kaz... let me know if you come accross a brain in working order...

Thankyou Kaz, yes I saw you said he had a bald spot I was just wondering why he had one. Can that happen after a moult?

That kind of feather loss is from a heavy moult normally related to diet change or just a bad moult
