Posted November 28, 200816 yr We're going away tomorrow for two weeks, and leaving Cosmo with my parents, which should be fine. The problem is that he has had a few stressful things this week and now he's acting unusual. I'm just a bit upset I guess that it had to happen now. Because he was already bound to get stressed by being moved to stay with other people, but he's already being really nervy this week. I think it's mostly happened since we had him out the other day when friends were over... he was enjoying socialising and being part of the action, but then he flew onto the 2 year old's head... and of course the little boy freaked out and pushed him off. We have been trying to keep Cosmo off heads for ages, so hopefully he learned his lesson, but he was a bit traumatised after that. Now he has just been very jittery, like if we put him up near things he flies away, when he would have used to have played with that thing... and I just had to chase him around the room to put him back in his cage and he squawked a lot Such a shame that we have to give him to my mum when he's already stressed. I had spent the morning calming him down and he eventually had a good preen on my finger and had a good head scratch, but then putting him back in the cage he freaked out again. This will probably bring on his moult.. as he has already been moulting heaps of downy feathers lately.
November 28, 200816 yr Try not to worry to much, give her a written check list on what to do and remember NO air freshners, candlers or irritates for him, when I left Merlin at my in laws he came back with stains above his cere because of the candles that she said she didn't burn but I saw them when I came over to collect him.
November 28, 200816 yr Author My mum gets pretty bad migraines so there's no air fresheners or candles in the house! They've had budgies since I was a kid, and still have 7 of them so it should be fine. My mum just rang me to let me know that he did really well overnight and came out for a short play this morning, and preened everyone's faces. So there's nothing to worry about... I was just a bit worried at how he'd settle in because he'd been so nervy this week. But he's pretty adaptable. We took him over yesterday afternoon and stayed for dinner with his cage next to us so he had time to get used to the new place while familiar faces were still around. He was being super cute when we had to leave though okay... I'm off! See you all in two weeks
