Posted November 26, 200816 yr Has anyone had one of those rooftop whirley birds added to their roof and can tell me how much difference they make? Also are they easy to install or do you have to have them professionally installed?
November 26, 200816 yr I am about to do the same thing and all my advice has been it does help and is worth doing.

November 26, 200816 yr Do you know whether you will have to have them installed profesionally? I hear they are pretty easy to do. Check the type you buy as some are for certain types of profile of tin or tiles. The important thing in the birdroom is crossflow ventilation. Movement of air.
November 26, 200816 yr Author I am actually thinking of putting a couple on the roof of our house as it gets really hot and much of the heat sits in the ceiling, but it's a rental so I was thinking if I got the type where you just remove a few tiles and insert it in the gap and secure it then I could just take them back out again when we leave and either use them at the new house or sell them.
November 26, 200816 yr I will be putting one in my avairy/birdroom when I build them. I have heard that they do make a difference. They arn't going to drop the tempurature by 20 degrees but they will increase the airflow...
November 26, 200816 yr Author Gonna talk to hubby when I next hear from him (he's floating around th ocean on an air craft carrier at the moment) and see what he thinks, we are both ex SES members so the concept of getting on the roof and fiddling with tiles doesn't bther either ofus so between us we should be able to do it.
