What To Pair My Grey With

Featured Replies

His mom was violet and dad was red eye lacewing white series. Here is a picture of him, I think he is grey possibly mauve? Would like more of this color, best hen to pair with would be????? Here is a picture of the baby[almost a year now] 100_1300.jpg

AND HERE ARE THE PARENT BIRDS:100_0782.jpg

I don't know what the best thing to pair him with is but I believe he is a mauve because one of his parents would have to be a grey to have him be a grey.

He could be a grey, depends what the lacewing is masking :D

If he is grey it is a dominant colour so pair him with a grey or a blue and you should get some grey chicks, if you put him with a green you should get some grey greens

Yes, I was thinking that MB but then I dismissed it if you can see if he has any grey or blue suffision that would help. But loking at that picture he looks more blue then grey.

Will take some better pictures tomorrow and post them tomorrow evening. Maybe that will help.

when I see the bird above and these birds I see mauve (maybe my screen is wrong) there a different depths of mauve and the bird's cheek patches should be grey or silvery.

well lets see what others think too :D, I agree he is a darker grey, but the mauve bird in the photo does match her coloring of the bird. Maybe another photo of the bird in question would be good too.

At first I agreed with MB and now I'm not sure... The black looked blueish... but looking again I am saying nah its a grey... I guess that means... I have no idea!

What I do know is, I need a Lacewing Cock to breed with... Thanks for sending him my way!!! :D

He is definately a single factor grey you can tell by the colour of his cheek patches. Since he is very light he probably has no dark factor. The lacewing parent is masking grey, if the grey had come from the cobalt you'd be able to see it. If you breed from him you will get 50% sf grey if he is mated to any shade of blue. A sky blue mate will give you a similar shade of grey but if you want darker grey then choose a mauve or cobalt. If he was paired to another single factor grey you'd get 50% sf grey, 25% double factor grey and 25% blue. If pairing to a grey the shade will still be affected by the dark factor.

He will be split for lacewing so half of his daughters will be lacewing
