Posted November 24, 200816 yr What is everyone's thoughts on breeding cabinets with the boxes. Does anyone put anything in there boxes or just leave them as is? Ive heard some people put wood shavings in there. thoughts?

December 7, 200816 yr there are lots of things you can put in nesting boxes rolled oats, woodshavings and i ahve heard when the chicks grow up a little but the nesting material is replaced with seed be creative xx Elise xx i hope this helped oh and read the faqs they arte great information for free!
December 7, 200816 yr I my use wood shavings which I but from the pet shop, don't get shavings from timbers shops as they could be toxic
December 7, 200816 yr I put wood savings in some and none in others (depends on the hen) if she keeps kicking it all out don't bother putting it back in there it is just a waste of money and annoys her.

Hi there, we use wood shavings from the pet shop and once a fortnight add some crushed fresh ucalyptus leaves, as the babies mature we regulary change the shavings for nice new ones thereby keeping the nesting box clean and dry for both mum and the babies. Hope this helps
