November 23, 200816 yr Author How have you gone at the shows? Won many awards? What type of birds are you aiming to breed, or currently breeding? If you click on my name and look up my topics you will see all I have posted about my birds including photos. I am classed as a novice at showing but I do pretty well with my birds in shows. I aim to breed quality birds of a show standard and colour does not come into it at this stage. My preference is for pieds. thats exactly what im wanting to bred to, Pieds. Here in Sydney not many breeders seem to have alot of pieds. Ive been to about 8, and out of these people, the most any of them had was 4 pairs. Non of them had alot of pieds within the birds. It is hard trying to get good pieds. I have been lucky to find some good ones, but there isnt alot of good birds floating around at present, and i think breeders know this, so they are asking big dollars for there birds.
November 23, 200816 yr This is my first season breeding show types, I'll be taking my first babies in for UBC class as the club show this Thursday I had a few dramas during my first round and didn't get as many chicks as I had hoped so I am hoping to have a better second round and have some good chicks on perches for the early shows at the start of next year. I am aiming for spangle and crested lines but at this stage getting some good stock of normals as well to put back to my spangle and crested birds for type in the future. Hoping to have a nice crested or two on the show bench early next year.

November 23, 200816 yr I am putting my spangles to normals, spangles and DF spangles(although I only have one show type DF at the moment), just really going on the attributes of each indiviual bird and choosing a mate to complement them. I am trying to keep opaline out of my breeding as I don't want opaline spangles, not real keen on the look of them
November 23, 200816 yr How many breedinf cabinets shall you have in your new setup? Hi BB, it is to be 20 cabinets - but I will have an overflow capacity of another 12. I have an outside construction which holds wire cages. It looks old and yuk and is not as secure as the new birdroom - it is wired all around and has an alcanite roof which means the cages are exposed to light, wind and weather. However, the birds breed very happily in it, I venture to say, more happily than in the proper cabinets. But mostly I'll stick to running 20 cabinets. Jaz
November 23, 200816 yr I run 20 cabinets but at times use some for Nest Feathers or Show Team Preparation. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....t=0&start=0 http://www.flexi.net.au/~dwellsadsl/ Edited November 23, 200816 yr by Darryl
