Posted November 22, 200816 yr Hi, a few weeks ago I bought my first 2 budgies. They came in a cage which is not suitable. So I am in the market for a new roomier cage. I have found this one on ebay and would like to check if it would be suitable. cage on ebay My concern is the bar spacing. Another cage from the same store that looks the same says the spacing is 1.5cm. 2nd cage on ebay Thanks Edited November 22, 200816 yr by rwaldron
November 22, 200816 yr So sorry, but both cages are not suitable :bluebudgie: Have a look here to see what you a looking for --- > Cages
November 22, 200816 yr Have to agree...not suitable. Both seem to be the same cage too. BUT they are parrot / tiel cages and would be small for the average parrot. Bar spacing is too wide for a budgie and also it is taller rather than wider. A budgie needs a wider flight cage so it can fly across the cage from perch to perch.
November 22, 200816 yr I have one very similar to this cage... and it houses two budgies very happily (with perches running from front to back): Bar spacing needs to be about 1.2cm or 1/2 inch. Good luck on your search and feel free to post more when you find them. We are happy to help.
November 22, 200816 yr I have just bought the same cage as Melbournebudgies recommends. Everything about it is practical so my family loves it and the birds approve too! It also works well with a homemade flyscreen seedcatcher on the side/s of the cage where the food will be! Good luck finding a nice new cage!
November 22, 200816 yr I agree to big ... 2budgies do you actually mean flyscreen as in the flyscreen we use on windows? As a bird will chew through that with in a month if not less ....
November 22, 200816 yr It's a seedcatcher Neat so it's on the outside of the cage not inside with the birds
