Posted November 20, 200816 yr Hello everyone, We have recently purchased a young male budgie from a reputable dealer. The budgie (Emerson) looks very healthy, his feathers are beautiful, he flies extremely fast and with great agility, etc and has no other problems at all. He is not thin at all, quite plump actually. However at first he wouldn't eat any of the seeds for the first couple of days. then when he did start eating them, he eats them extremely slowly. He just sits on the seed container and appears to chew them for a very long time. Our other budgie justs hops in there and eats very quickly as have our other budgies in the past, but Emerson is taking atleast 5-6 times as long. Sometimes he's there for 35 minutes chewing away. Any ideas why this might be? Is it anything to be concerned about? i thought perhaps he had only had pellets at the breeders and wasn't used to seeds, but then i thought eating seeds was natural for budgies? Kind regards and help and advice you can give me is much appreciated,

November 20, 200816 yr it could be anything from a food change to a crop issue, to you have an avian vet you could take him to to get his crop checked out. also just a question did you quarantine your new bird from your existing bird for 30 days?
